I regularly don't go outside for 2 weeks at a time.
My next door neighbour has even said to me in the past "have you been away ?"

You could probably have some fun with that.

Yes, I definitely do not leave my house for that many hours during an average week. Some weeks if I'm even more anxious than usual I won't leave my house for somewhere from 2-5 days & then when I do leave it I'm even worse with people & wish that I hadn't left.

This is not my choice though. I have awful social anxiety.

I definitely qualify under the definition given in the OP.

I am self-employed and work out of my home and I live alone.

Sometimes I take myself out to dinner and a movie or do some travelling for a few days but that's about it.

I have my children every other weekend though, and that helps a lot...

I'm defining hermit as someone who literally doesn't leave their house/place of residency for more than 5-10 hours a week if that. Someone who the vast majority of their time is spent in their house.

That was me for a couple years after I graduated high-school. I was happy spending most all my time on computer & I didn't have much of a reason to leave the house; I live in a rural area with nothing to do & I don't drive & there's no public transportation. I also didn't like going out & being around other people then either. I was officially diagnosed with Schizoid Personality Disorder instead of Aspergers when I was tested rite before I turned 21. My personality has changed a lot sense then thou

Absolutely becoming more and more of a hermit as of late.

Without a doubt...I only leave the house to buy groceries. Occasionally, once every few weeks or so, I'll go to a used bookstore to satisfy my book addiction. :D

Yes, but not by choice. We have one car and my husband uses it for work. There is no where to walk to around here. I can't stand the neighbors. In fact, I don't like most people in this town. I see the few that I do like occasionally, when I decide it's time to get out and do something.

My kids are very popular and there are always their friends 15-25 coming over to see them, and not a day goes by without two or three of their guests. So I see people. But those aren't my friends, they are my kids friends. Right now though, I'm just in a leave me alone state. I want to stay home, do my housework, read my books, sew, get online. That's about it.
