Actually, I've heard about similar things. Isn't being coeliac able to cause similar symptoms?

Eliminating gluten was the simple "change in diet" that increased my iron levels and cured the anemia symptoms including fatigue/insomnia. (A healthy gut is better able to absorbing vitamins & minerals.)

Unfortunately by the time I got around to see a Dr, I had already been gluten-free for a few weeks, therefore tests for celiac were inconclusive. If I could go back in time, I would not self-diagnose, but rather do a "gluten challenge" (eat lots of bread & pasta leading up to the test) for more accurate results.

At this point though I am happy with the results so why would I switch back? :) Also I understand it is possible to be sensitive to gluten without clinically having celiac disease (a specific auto-immune disorder).

Sorry to ramble but it is a "special interest" for me. :)

Are you overweight? It could be sleep apnea.

No, I am not significantly over weight and I already mentioned the sleep study above.

Fine with me. I wasn't even sure how to spell it!

"celiac" (USA) and "coeliac" (UK) are both correct spellings.

Might be directly related to the anxiety.

I have the same problem. It is not constant. It goes in fits and starts. I really enjoy the sleepiness as it is a nice warm soft feeling but it makes it hard to get things done. Hard to remember things. Stack that with pregnancy and I'm lucky I can find my fanny with both hands and a flashlight.

I'm wondering if mine might be related to the anxiety in some way. Trying to read up on the stress cycle-- particularly stress hormone production followed by opioid production in the brain-- but right now I'm having a really hard time wading through the material.

Have you been checked for diabetes? I'm diabetic and used to be sleepy all the time, until they put me on insulin.

Occasionally, normal medical stuff happens to us too.

I've been on the same med for five years without serious issues. Then I noticed that I was really exhausted all the time. My rather decent GP tested me for a bunch of stuff at once, thyroid, liver function, glucose, cholesterol and B-vitamins. Turns out I suddenly went B-12 deficient. Added it in by supplement and for $5 a month, I have a solution.

So I'd try talking to a GP or internist.
