I seriously don't know. My parents and brothers are behaving so strange. The hate me, then they care, then they don't, then they say 'We love you'. I get beaten by my oldest brother. Would I be better of in a psychiatric ward or not? I'm very confused and I don't know what to do.

I'm sorry that your family are being so horrible. You should not be in a psyciatric ward but you shouldn't be living in an abusive environment either.

Do you have any relatives or friends with whom you'd be more comfortable staying?

The next time you get beaten call the police and have the assailant arrested for assault.

How old are you and where are you at?

I'm 19 and I live in Belgium. The problem with the police is that the jails are overcrowded so that even if I call the police the would just talk to my parents. And then they can go and start beating me again. So unfortunately that's not a solution. In 3 weeks I will start university, I'm going to live on the campus but my parents imposed me to return on the weekends or they won't pay tuition/food/etc. And I have no friends because I'm very prone to meltdowns, so I can't go to them either. That's my sh*tty situation.

Why do they make threats like withdrawing food and education? That's incredibly cruel. I hope you find a way out of this. Talk to the welfare officer at uni. They could probably set you up with a social worker, and maybe some accommodation.

Definitely follow puddingmouse's suggestion. There may be programs that can help you find another place to live. And maybe financial aid for school so you don't have to depend on your family.

Even if you could be admitted to a psychic ward chances are they wont let you stay there forever, probably a couple of weeks at the most unles you go really psychotic. I've been on the psych ward for two weeks before and I liked it, it gave my body time to refresh and get my body used to new medication.

Unfortunately, I also checked that option (financial aid). In Belgium being an 'independent student' doesn't exist. So I have to turn to my parents or I need to get work. But because of this damn economic recession jobs are scarce and people don't want aspies. I know, Belgium is a stupis country, maybe in USA this is possible but not here :(

Going home only on the weekends might be a start. Eventually you might be able to convince them that you need to stay at school and study. Maybe after time they won't expect to see you as much?

I Agree. Never allow anyone to abuse you in any way.

You couldn't get assistance from the state as a vulnerable/disabled adult? Even if they don't pay your school fees, you would at least get somewhere to live because you are being abused at home.

There is an organisation which deals with abused children. The problem with the police is that they confuse autism with paranoia/psychosis. I know this because once I ran away when I was 17. Thee police brought me back home and asked my parents for an explanation. And they deliberatly confused the police man. So know they think I'm just seeing things that aren't true. So anyway I need evidence for replacement, but since I can't collect evidence (because only police can determine when abuse happened, but they are misinformed so they will never know), I can't go to an host family. I guess going home in the weekends is a beggining, so I'm trying to accept that.

I doubt this will be of much comfort........but it sucks here to. Are there any sort of resources at all for people in abusive situations there? I mean I don't know quite how things work in Belgium but maybe there are like charitable organizations or counseling or something if there's no government funded programs that could help. Also when you go to college maybe they would have people you could talk to. When I was in college they had help for people who either needed food, were in bad home situations and such but I am not sure how colleges there are.

See college as an opportunity to get out.

It might be a gradual one, but doors will open that will allow you to slowly ease out of the situation.

Befriend some people in authority at your school and tell them the situation. I don't mean peers. I mean faculty/staff.
You might have to return home on weekends, but be sure to be busy. Really busy. Have plenty of homework, and even if you don't, still make up plenty of work. People tend to leave you alone when you're working, even if they're your parents.

After awhile they might realize that you need to stay at the school over weekends in order to keep up your work.

I have been in very bad situations with family and control issues. You're growing up and you can handle this. One step at a time. PM me if you need to. I know what an abusive family can be like, and I've been working my way out for a few years now.

Ive been in psych' wards and when leave I always feel worse then when I went in. I hate them, I hate asking for some one to talk to and have the nurses tell you to shut up, and I hate being drugged out of my mind and then send home to STFU so you don't bother people anymore.

I'm tired.
