That's what I hear about college... I'm just worried about getting around and finding my way around that causes my panic attacks. I know it seems child-like but I need someone to Walk me everywhere. I suck at taking verbal directions and instructions:(

@Dantac: I have the type of agoraphobia that I can't leave my house alone without freaking out and having major anxiety thinking I will either get lost or something might attack me. Its bad>_<

Your situation is almost exactly like mine, so I can relate. I am turning 23 soon and I feel that I have nothing... nothing except my art. I've been working hard on a personal art project recently, just to gain some semblance of purpose/meaning, but it has been very difficult, as it usually is when you're attempting to do something alone for the first time and the payoff isn't instant. I tried college for a bit but it just wasn't for me, and I realized that I learn so much more when I'm finding things out on my own. My advice would be to never give up on your art, and to use all of your free time to continue improving, so that you will find your niche in the working world someday. I draw a lot of anime-style stuff myself. :) And yeah, it might not be earning us truckloads of money right now the way that it does for other people, but you never know what opportunities you'll get in the future.

Its not child-like. If its something that enables you to function its a need not a fault. Universities have disability accommodations and assistance and this sounds like something the university would assign someone to accompany you from class to class and to/from your transportation.

Ah, that kind of agoraphobia. But it seems you can handle it if you're with someone you trust and that at least is a good thing. I know people that can't leave their home at all. I don't know if you've been agoraphobic since very young or if it was a late teen/early adult thing that set in but regardless it is good that you can go out. There is anxiety medication that can really help you and improve your quality of life.

Maybe the two of you could make a manga?

Now that's an idea :P OP can also find a way to somehow get copies of her art into a computer and share it in art communities online so that she can gain more exposure, which could even lead to a career in art if she networks with the right people. I make all of my art digitally so it's easier to share it online with others.

To the original poster: I've been in your shoes pal. You are not worthless. You're a living, breathing, human being. One of God's children. Everyone of us has something to contribute to this world.
Does your agoraphobia allow you to step outside like say into your backyard or some other small outdoor enclosed area? If so, get outside and breathe in the fresh air. Excercise a little in that enclosed area to get the blood pumping and breathing elevated. It worked for me many times. After calling the yard part of the personal space, go a little further, like say the front yard or maybe down the street a little. Each time you venture out call that territory part of your domain. Work in the yard some. When walking down the street, stop and pick up some litter. Own it. Put it under your control.

It sounds like you have artistic talent. There's something you can control and call your own. Check to see if there any science fiction or comic book conventions in your town or nearby. Display your artwork there once you feel confident about being away from home.
