"black sheep is an idiom used to describe an odd or disreputable member of a group, especially within a family."

I'm wondering if anybody else feels this way within their families? I have some great days and some not so great days. My Aspie meter is high today which is bad for me, last night it was low and I had an amazing time. I never look forward to holidays.

I'm a pink sheep.

fortunately, the only family I have to deal with is my parents thses days... the rest of my extended family has moved away and we get along much better when the only speaking I do with them is in short bursts of a few minutes a week... They can pretend to like me for that long, and I can pretend to be normal. But yes, my extended family definitely doesn't "get" me.

Yep, I definitely the black sheep. No one, except my awesome sister, understands me or even tries to understand me at all. The holidays are often painful reminders of how lonely being the black sheep is, but it's okay. There's a black sheep in every family, so even if you are the black sheep, you're not alone.

Yup, I am the black sheep of my family. I don't really have a lot in common with them. I rarely see them, though. Just a couple of times a year ( like now when it's Christmas. ) My dad is kind of like me, though. But I think I'm more affected by it than him.

When you're with a friend, there's nothing wrong with being a black sheep. You're just two sheep, one happens to be black, one happens to be white, hanging out. The problem starts when another white sheep comes around to hang out. Now the black sheep is the odd one out.

Often, though it's more when I'm with other people. At least they don't kick me though.

Very much so, though my mom and dad say it's more like grey.

Yep, but I'm starting to avoid them more and more. I've already planned an activity on my birthday next year, partly because I don't want to see my family then. They just don't understand me and I usually want to flee after 5 minutes.

Yes! It is so obvious that I am the black sheep that it's painful.

Really, I think that my family likes to blame me so they don't have to deal with their own problems  so in return I limit my time with them. It's a fair deal.

I'm the black sheep in the sense that I was the only one who never got married, had kids or bought a house.
I'm the black sheep in that I've had drug problems and spent months in psych hospitals, jail and drug treatment centers.
I'm the black sheep in the sense that I place my special interests above my jobs. I don't think anyone else writes music or fiction but me.
I'm the black sheep in the sense that I have Asperger's which no one believes.
I'm the black sheep in the sense that I spend all holidays alone.

This community is cool in that we're all connected through here, and it seems like it's understandable how that feels like. I'd say that it didn't go so bad.. only like, a hour of having to deal with everything. Barely talking ! But it could have always gone worse I guess. My sister really loved the gift I got her and said it was her favorite out of everything, so that's pretty cool. I'm looking forward to the New Year. I'll try and challenge myself to be better and speak more.

I feel like I should be considered one by my family a lot of times, but they all for whatever reason can't let go of the image they have of me even though I have totally and completely failed at living up to it. I suppose its a good thing otherwise I'd likely be homeless and trying not to freeze to death in the freezing weather outside at this moment but its akward as hell. All that does not apply to everyone in my family though the ones who knows pretty much everything about me accepts me as I am and either likes it or dislikes it. I don't talk about everything with the others though as I find 50% of what I would talk about to be things that they are un-approachable about such as potentially worsening my PTSD the time I decided to watch The Wall while tripping. Yeah I can't imagine talking about that or simular things to my mom or grandma and grandpa(that's not related so step-grandpa) one of my aunts and others.

I would say I am one of societies black sheep though.
