That is a moot point, really. People who have terminal cancer do not have a temporary problem.
People who have an ongoing mental disorder that causes them distress year after year after year, would not consider their problems to be temporary. Temporary is something that lasts a short time and then goes. Many issues are ongoing or repeat themselves time and time again, and therefore are not so temporary. It often is a build up of these 'temporary' problems that causes a person to go over the edge, anyway.

But mental issues can be resolved and/or lessened usually, with time, patience, and help. Of course, it takes a lot of willpower, but they can be temporary if you choose to make them so and stick to it. Don't give up the battle before you've started.

Anywhom, I understand suicide and there are days that it is tempting, but I don't think that people should do it, whether they are aspies or nuerotypicals.

I had thought about suicide in the past, as I'm bipolar as well as Aspie. One interesting thing is that discovering that I'm Aspie has helped pull a lot of pieces together in my life; I no longer see myself as an unloveable misfit, but just as someone who's different, and possibly in some very good ways. Some meds has also helped, and I am gradually making new friends, though this takes time.

I'm not into most social scenes; they either demand that you give up too much of your independence, or are just plain too crazy. However, I've found that some volunteer work can be very energizing, as long as I pace myself and don't overdo it. A couple of things that work well for me are visits to nursing homes where there are a lot of lonely elderly people, and volunteering to help with the cats at the local SPCA shelter. :) As the American presidential election cycle gets going again, I'm also working with the campaign of one candidate whom I strongly support. (I do think that Bush is a disaster, and I didn't vote for him either time.) I strongly recommend that anyone who's lonely should get into some volunteer work, especially if you're in America where there are LOTS of opportunities for volunteering! :D

You're right. When society learns enough about us, they will give us hugs instead of hate. Surely, NT's will accept us and not interpret us the wrong way. Someday.

I'm not going to do that, but it just seems like the only option on some days.

Yeah, and adding, "(I don't mean you mom, dad, and bro.)" won't really help either. It's one of those paradoxes -- you can't get out of insulting them one way or the other :-)

Stop trying to convince me.
Honestly, this is the best pro-
suicide line that I've heard.

Hehe, true; life is nothing but a string of temporary problems, by definition! :-)
