He was the best dog.

We understood one another. He was loyal, protective, playful and loving. He knew how to enjoy a good walk.

He was fine yesterday morning, then felt ill in the evening and got sick, the rested.

This morning he was gone.

I cant believe it.

He has been my companion for 10 years and now he is gone.

I am shocked.

"And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also" --Jesus (John 14:3).

Along these lines, I like to believe that all the animal friends in my life who have died are exploring new and amazing things in heaven so that when I join them years from now, we will all have fun discoveries to share with each other. Until then, our friends are always no further from us than our memories.

Me too, I am sorry and sad to hear of this. The sudden-ness makes it even harder. Take care of yourself. I also believe what AspieUtah said. :(

Thank you for the kind words.

Floating in a combination of disbelief, loss and sorrow.

I would like to think he is in heaven too, some place outside of spacetime, where love and the good are known by all.

But it hurts that he is no longer here with me.

I am sorry about your dog, they are lovely simple companion creatures, when the shock wears off I?m sure many fond memories will come back to you.

So sorry to hear. :( I know how much dogs can mean to a person. At least it sounds like he made a good passing, in that it was fairly quick. Its good to remember you gave them a great life.

Oh Adamantium, I truly know how you feel and the dreadful heartbreaking pain that is overwhelming. I think you know that not only do I share your shock and grief, but my dearest cat died the same day as your much loved dog. All I have left of him now is his imprint on his favourite chair and his fur on his favourite blanket. His ashes come home today. I can't stop crying. I feel I betrayed him by taking him to his death knowingly when he had absolute trust in me. That guilt is so bad I can't get past it. At least you were spared this, though I know that doesn't make the loss easier. I will think of you a lot today and tomorrow. We are both shocked and devastated by these losses.

B19 - I understand the terrible feeling of having a pet put to sleep. I have done this in an effort to protect the animal from suffering and wondered did I take her in too soon or not soon enough. She trusted you to do what you thought was best for her and you probably saved her from suffering.
