Meltdowns pt. 2
Well, its been a little over a year since my last meltdown post. Things are better yet worse: last time I posted on this I wasn't working because I had a stalker who had me in a checkmate situation. His side was always taken by everyone including legal and social service s because he is a crafty sociopath while I am a socially impaired aspie. But since then he has been locked up for stalking in laws who are neurotypical. A shame that I went through 5 years of homelessness because of his lies and a couple of neurotypicals had him locked up in prison within two weeks. The relevance of this is that my meltdowns I am having now bridge off the accumulated rage from all what I have been put through . My husband has suffered from it because he also was not able to fight back having his own set of neurological issues which we are now discovering to be cognitive and reasoning impairment and short term memory loss. He was diagnosed last week with some form of ALS. So whilst no one took us seriously because we were different we lost five yrs of building a savings account and life together. He has up to two years to live. I am suffering. I have meltdowns and can't get diagnosed officially or even though I am his spouse I wouldn't be able to get caretaker s aid which we are now banking on. So I have to appear neurotypical to get what we need and have no close friends to be there as he slowly dies because no one can understand me. This is in the US. Anyone has anything to offer on meltdown remedies or how to get social security for him? Thanks. I'm disabled but I have a right to be there for my husband and he deserves to have me for his caregiver since it is his wish.

If he has an official diagnosis, your first action would be to contact an attorney versed in Social Security Law. Before you say you can't afford an attorney, most Attornies dealing with SSA work on a contingency basis, meaning if they don't win, they don't get paid. Let the attorney handle the entire process, from application to appeal, should SSA deny his claim.
According to Disability Secrets.com, ALS patients should automatically be given benefits under compassionate allowances program.
Like I said, I'm not an attorney. Your best bet would be to contact an attorney versed in disability and social security law.
Again, thank you my friend for the information you gave me. It was at that point in time unofficial but assumed with the general diag. being neuro-degenerative disorder. Now it's official UNFORTUNATELY. But I have been on the site you mentioned above and know that this diag. will get him what he needs financially right away.
