My 'rewrite' of the Sound Of Silence...

'Hello darkness, my old friend
You've come to torment me again
Because my vision's softly decreasing
Planted your seeds while I was sleeping
And the depression that you planted in my brain
Still remains
Within the sound of silence'

And the rest of the song is how depression feels for me.

I used to be deathly afraid of the dark.

But I have since embraced the darkness.

I close my eyes....and images like that of acid trips come up.

I'm sorry you feel depressed.

I always try to compress my darkness as small as possible so they can fit in the small dot.
Hey, "Embrace the darkness in you" and compress it into the smallest dot you can possibly make.
Have a good day dude!

But you mean your poem is

"Hi this is my poem.

Hope you'll like 'em."

"Sounds of Silence" and "I Am a Rock" have both been my secret anthems since they were released in 1965. I was 8 years old at the time.

So technically the WP date system is still screwed up, and I've stopped trying to deal with it.

There is somebody here who is past Mesaluthah's (spelling) age. He's 1015 years old.

About 2 years ago I got really into those two songs in particular when I had their greatest hits CD on rotation in my car. They were certainly helpful in my quest for self identity.

I like ice cream!

Back to the topic ...

For me, real depression is much worse than any song could describe. The moods depicted in "Sounds of Silence" and "I Am a Rock" are perts of my normal state of being, so when I'm really depressed, it's more than just a feeling of melancholy - it's like the oppressive weight of a hot, humid day coupled with the near-total lack of energy.

Then I eat some ice cream and everything gets better!
