It's been about ten weeks now. Promise of a job : writing for a website. Exactly my area of expertise. I've done some paid and some unpaid freelancing, while waiting to put ink on paper or at least a handshake and start paid work.

My gut instincts and a few clues (web viewership down, owner not keen on spending money) tells me this golden, made for me, throug a friend job opportunity is going the way of too many others : down the drain.

Please help me think otherwise.

On monday I'll send the owner a mail listing why he should hire (I will cost him less through a government program for long out of a job people like among other things)

This email is my last shred of hope.

Thanks in advance.

Is it normally good protocol there to write emails like that after an interview?

Here it may make you look bad or desperate. Often it's a good idea to send a sort of "thank you for the opportunity" sort of letter or email after an interview. It's a way to remind the interviewer of yourself and to have a chance to outline your positive qualities. But it must be subtle.

I would have to agree with Yingeren on this.

But I will send good vibes.

Trouble is I have not had a formal interview yet. What happened is quite long and happened mostly on the phone. I remember very well what's written much less what's oral.

Hmm, ok. So you had essentially an informal phone interview?

In that case, perhaps a friendly "thank you for your consideration" email would be appropriate. Again, I'm not sure of the appropriate protocol in your country. But you could thank him or her for his/her time, and briefly remind that person of your qualifications, but in a subtle way. It may be helpful to research this online, so as not to make yourself look bad.

I'm afraid that it can be a fine line between sounding desperate for a job, and sounding eager or excited for a job. What you want to do is make it sound as if you are interested, but not desperate, and at the same time remind this person of your qualifications. This can be very difficult for someone with Asperger's to accomplish, which is why I suggest getting some tips from online sources.

This sounds like smart advice. If there's no way to be subtle about enhancing your job qualifications, then a brief "thank you for your consideration"-kind of message would suffice, I think, as highlighting them too much could cause the wrong impression. A small message thanking for the opportunity would at the very least let the potential employer see you as somebody interested and polite, which are always good things.
