Hello,

For next semester at my local community college I am thinking about taking a cultural geography course and a cultural anthropology course. I hope that these courses will instill a love/passion in me for other cultures/languages and thus help to get me obsessed with/really into learning the Chinese language.

Does this sound like a plausible idea, does anyone think that it is a good idea?

Thank you!

Is the class needed for you degree? If its an elective than do it but don't expect to get obsessed if that love or passion is not already there or at the very least something that interest you. Also how is college, I am thinking about returning and hearing how my peers are doing might help with some anxiety I am facing.

If you want to learn Chinese, hang around a Chinese person who speaks the version you want to learn. Mandarin, Cantonese, Tai San..... You really have to be good with tones too.

College is ok. There can be mean people there, but next semester I plan to take my classes in the evening/night where there are mature adults and online so I can be alone I in doing my work.
