I've been awake for about two hours. I woke up and felt hopeless. An hour later, I felt euphoric. An hour later and now I feel hopeless again.

This I very jarring for me. It goes on all the time. How can I make it stop?

That's like every day for me.

I'm starting to think this bipolar tendency is part of post-traumatic stress disorder from being misunderstood my whole life.

The only thing you can really do is try is compile an objective view of yourself.

You're doing okay. You are working. You have no diseases. And you're pretty intelligent.

And I would divert my thoughts to more productive things.

I don't feel so good right now. I'm probably going to need knee surgery, and I just fee depressed. My method is to watch sports on TV and go on WrongPlanet.

You're not a dummy. You're not a criminal punk. You're okay.

And hackers are not after you.
Nor me.
They have bigger fish to fry, like Hillary and Donald. :)

I believe we've all been attacked in the last 24 hours. This is yet more evidence supporting that.
The doubts are all an illusion, and something great is on the horizon.

I think he's talking about the fact that people are always trying to hack someone out there in cyberspace.

He felt like it was pertinent to the topic because someone else mentioned that.

Are your mood precipitated by thoughts? Or do they happen regardless of what you are thinking or what is happening in your life? Are you diagnosed with BPD by any chance?

Most of the time yes. I think bad thoughts and then I feel awful for a few hours. Stopping these thoughts isn't as easy as Just turning off a faucet.

Not yet but I haven't seen a diagnostician yet.

How would I know if I had BPD?

I have BPD and my mood cycles a lot throughout the day based on stressors and thoughts. I find using a mix of various cognitive therapies like CBT, DBT and ACT can help a lot for my mood swings. I suggest you see a doctor to at least know what you are struggling with diagnosis wise so you can create a treatment plan best suited for you.

You can find books on amazon or online to teach yourself CBT (cognitive behavioural therapy) like a book called "Mind over Mood", or DBT (Dialectical Behavioral Therapy) with the "DBT Skills Workbook" by Peter McKay, or for ACT (Acceptance and Commitment based Therapy) a book called "The Happiness Trap". These can give you the coping skills to better manage your moods and negative thoughts.
