I've been in Copenhagen for three days for my dad's birthday and today we are flying back to England but I don't feel happy returning despite having to go back to work tomorrow and back to seeing some dull things back home. Copenhagen seems like a nice place to go to.The people are friendly and has plenty of nice shops, restaurants and sights to see. I seem to think English is one of the common languages in Denmark even though they are mostly Danish so I didn't have to really speak the language. I hear stories back home in London where there is a lot of crime going whereas in Copenhagen there seems to be a very low crime rate why that is I don't know.

Denmark is very affluent compared to the U.S. and the U.K., it is because they don't get tangled up overseas and are focused on commerce. I also think that their people are probably a little bit smarter than us on average. It is probable, I haven't checked the stats, that they don't run deficits and haven't gotten their government deeply into debt. It would be great to live there, except for the fact the cost of living is high, and they are not particularly eager to accept immigrants from Western nations, you would probably have to be a refugee of some kind or another. Otherwise I can tell you a boatload of Americans would fly over there tomorrow for the health care.

Denmark is a social democracy run by the Social Democratic Party. This means that while it's still a capitalist country its government leans very strongly to the Left, with high taxes and high levels of social programs available to the people, like free health care, housing subsidies, child care, education and so on. This is the reason for the high level of well being in spite of a high cost of living.

Denmark is similar to a lot of European nations that enjoy health care, child care, free college and many other things. They are subsidized by the U.S. taxpayer. We pay to defend Europe, ever since 1945. The Pax Americana, it is called. It's a great deal if you can get it. I would run the exact same racket, if I were put in charge of a European country. If the Europeans opened their borders, like we do, then I would be in line to get in. Count me in for free health care. Probably welfare too. I will take some welfare.

What???? Everything you said here is false and/or backwards. First, the European borders are MUCH more open than the US border, which is closed except to the people who meet very specific criteria. European countries have been taking in countless refugees which the US has turned its back on. Second, the US is in no way subsidizing Europe. The existence of NATO creates a theoretical US contribution to defending Europe in case of attack, but that has never happened, and the argument that European countries have spent less on their own militaries as a result is also highly questionable.

If you want free health care and education you can vote for it and support it and agitate for it here in the US, instead of working against it.
