I'm having one of those days where I wish I hadn't gotten out of bed. I hate being like this, I am so oversensitive to everything and I over-think everything. Why do I have to over-analyse everything? Why can't I take my friend's advice and just realize that I can't know what someone else is thinking or what their intentions are?

Has anyone found a way to not over-analyze? I'm driving myself crazy.

Heavy sedation, through at times less than legal means, did some "good," but was far more detrimental in the long run. I'd say try to get your mind on something else, but at least in my own experience I never found that to be easy, if at all possible.

Is this an issue for you every day? Have you talked to a psychiatrist / therapist / counselor about it? If you haven't tried any anti-anxiety medications, that could help. I say that even though I'm personally not all that big of a fan of medications, never had much luck myself, but they can be of benefit to some people, and one might be for you.

Is there anything that you really enjoy doing that you could go and do? Same issue as before, it is basically saying "distract" yourself, which for me was frequently far easier said than done, but it would be worth a shot. Reading, videogames, whatever hobbies you may have, that might help some, even if it doesn't "make things better." Tolerable isn't "good," but it is better than some alternatives.

Try reading posts on this website, in forums you don't usually frequent.

Find odd websites, then go to a link, then go to a link from that site.

Distraction is an art.

When I'm not studying, I go on Wikipedia or transportation websites.

Huh?

Anyway... I don't over-analyze words, I tend to over-analyze looks, actions, body language. My best friend keeps telling me that you can only go on someone's words and direct actions to know what they're intentions/feelings are. My father was very unpredictable and I learned to read his moods very well so that I could better predict when to expect a bout a rage directed at me. Because of this, I'm not like a lot of Aspies; I have a hard time taking people's words at face value.

I'm not one of those Aspies who can't read non-verbal queues, but I do tend to ascribe too much meaning to them when I'm emotional. I'm great at reading people when I have no emotional investment in the situation, I just suck at it when I do.

I tend to have a problem with how my words come out too, I trip over them and sometimes they'll come out in the wrong order and such.

How so? What's wrong with looking at an abandoned, pothole-laden road in Arizona that leads to a bridge that is nearly 100 years old, and not much else?

Occupy your mind on other things.

If your mind is looping back on itself because of too much analysis then find something else to do. I work on complicated math or electronics problems but there's also movies with complicated plots or throwing yourself round a gym for an hour or two.

tim~ that's the most i've ever seen you say!

edol~ you're in Hungary? not to hijack the forum, but you gotta tell me what it's like there sometime! travel is my "thing" and i wonder about Hungary...

to the point- my mind loops too. i over-analyze things as well, and it's not so much what they say, but i question how they mean it, due probably to over-analyzing. or maybe not. cause "just because you're paranoid, don't mean they're not after youuuuu" lol
