On the day of my suicide I'd like these two songs to play in an infinite loop. Thanks for your support.

You don't need to do this. It's not worth it. PLEASE DON'T KILL YOURSELF!

Explain to me why there is a fork in the road if you can't use it?

Two things you need to get straight:

-IT is indeed an option
-The person's reasons for IT are justified in most cases

Indeed I hope both of us make it through the night, but given how much more successful Robin has been in life than me I dont much like my odds.

How would you know?

For what it's worth, I happen to like your song choices (even though they're somewhat morbid given the circumstance). But... are you sure this is inevitable?

Isn't that an outright lie?

redrobin, my thoughts are with you. I wish there was something I could do or say.

Please know that there are people out here who care.

Man I get a feeling you are serious because you seem focused. Very sad if you do.

But you are posting in the haven so maybe you will read what people say. I don't know try this.

"You don't need to be happy to live." Concentrate on your needs rather than your wants. Happiness is just another want.

Indeed! Trust an aspie to point that out. :)

While well-intentioned, such inane attempts to "cheer up" a suicidal person may well be counter-productive. I mean, they're just insulting to one's intelligence if you actually stop and think about them for a second, aren't they? I suppose they might work for someone who is very NT, so it's the emotion behind the words that counts, not the meaning of the words.

If you'd like to read a frank discussion of suicide by highly intelligent, highly analytical people, take a look at this thread: https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=3348671 The top post is especially good, but the whole thing is the most interesting discussion I've read on the topic of suicide.

Quote:
At one point I had a serious sit-down with myself about the topic of suicide. I went over the pros, the cons, ways to do it, the consequences to others and so on. I decided, this was an option. I also realized, I only get to choose it once.

I found this realization very comforting.

Ever since, I have been slightly annoyed at the "suicide is not the answer" stuff I read. I get pissed at the people who deride it. I hate the people who talk about it as not an option. It is an option, but a pretty drastic one.

...

And I only need to decide for today. Do I want to do this today? Sure things are f****d up, but I sure would exit in a pretty sh***y situation: things undone, house a mess, porn not properly deleted from the computer, finances not in order, etc. So I won't do it today. Maybe I'll start getting ready to do it. Tomorrow I can decide again.

Though everybody has the right to do as they desire with their lives without judgement, it is worth pointing out that you will be missed, even if you do not realize it; I would miss your presence on this website, redrobin62, and I can imagine that those in your waking life will miss you as well. The insidious thing about depression is that it distorts our view of the world; it makes you feel like a mere burden to those who see you as an overwhelming blessing (as I found out when my therapist confronted my family about my suicidal idealizations). You really do make a positive difference to somebody, redrobin62, CornerPuzzlePieces, and anybody else who may be reading this (yes, even you, specifically); your life is meaningful.

May you all find peace and happiness in your lives and in your eventual afterlives, whatever your afterlives consist of.

I know you feel that no one listens to you here, but you are important.
Why don't you come on and have a vent, you're always trying to reassure others on here, now it's your turn.
Where are you?

redrobin62 Please remember that you matter, like I said in the other thread. You are important on here - WP - and speaking for myself what kind of hope can I realistically have for myself if you, a talented and skilled writer and photographer and artist do your self in? I'm an artist, and have struggled with the darkness for decades, even though I don't see an end or a solution.
It's people like you that help put some light in the world even if you don't think so.

Why are there so many of us who are depressed? It really shouldn't be this way. Try to find what is making you so depressed. Try to find like-minded individuals outside of the Internet. It can make a big difference.
