I just found out my friend was shot and killed this morning in her French class

We haven't been friends in years, haven't even talked for a couple of months but now I'm crying

I f*****g hate crying unless I know why and I feel bad crying because we didn't even talk anymore

But her parents and all her friends were calling her and trying to get a hold of her and no one heard from her dad had to drive all the way down, a 4 hour drive of wondering if his daughter was still alive and now they know that when they sent her to school it was the last time they'd ever see her

She was one of the only people who was actually nice to me in 7th grade when I was weird AND new and other kids gave me s**t

When I went to Australia to meet my dad who was abusive and scared the s**t out of me she sent me letters the whole month, and then she kept writing me when I went to camp. But that was years ago so I don't know why I'm crying now.

During that psycho's rampage at Virginia Tech?

Sorry to hear this. As to why you cry now...just because you had not spoken in a while does not take away the friendship you had. You don't stop being someone'e friend when you don't see them for a while. It doesn't change the fact this person had an impact on your life and did kind things that improved your life at the time.

I'm so sorry for your loss. Don't feel bad about crying, it can actually make you feel better because it releases stress hormones. I would cry too if I found out someone I was once friends with died, even if it was 10 years ago.

I'm sorry this has happened. And as everyone else says, don't feel bad about crying, don't pint up your emotions.

I am sorry for your loss, phenomenon. We can feel for people even if we havn't been around them for a while. I feel for you and I don't even know you.

She was shot and killed in French Class? Can you tell us where that happened, please.

Merle

It happened in Norris hall. I believe it was on the second floor, but I'm not sure. Last I knew, CNN.com had a map of the Virginia Tech campus with the two sites of the shootings marked out. It was my understanding that primarily engineering / CS classes were held in Norris, but I was clearly mistaken. (I figured most language classes were in Maj. Williams Hall. That's where Japanese was held when I took it, and I thought I saw other offices for language professors.)

This has been much more far-reaching than I had initially thought. I keep hearing from friends that friends of theirs lost someone Monday morning. I still can't sleep because of it. The only person I knew (so far) that was killed I knew at the most as an acquaintance.

Phenomenon:
I'm sorry for your loss. As I mentioned (and as far as I know,) I wasn't all that close to anyone that was injured or killed. Even with that, today has been a living hell for me and other students here. I can't begin to imagine what you are going through right now.

I won't bother with empathy; it is beyond my ability to comprehend what you must be going through. You have my most sincere condolences, however.

Peace be with you, and your fallen comrade.

Roxas
