I can't change my username. I made the mistake of using my real name as my username.
I've never known a forum where a member could do that on their own.

I can't take anything down that needs to be taken down. Everything is stuck up forever.
What you looking to take down? You can always remove various information from your profile. There is a time window in which you can remove a post you made. Unless you were to make special request yes, most things are stuck. This is the internet, we must always use a level of discretion with what we put out there.

I can't have an inappropriate reply to my post taken down or hidden.
This is a forum not a YouTube channel. You might start a thread but you don't have any 'ownership' of it, in terms of what is posted. That kind of thing is jurisdiction of the Moderators. It's their job to 'police' such things. If they haven't seen it, then you may report the post. Someone will take a look to see if it violates forum rules and decide how to deal with it.

I can't even delete my account!! !
This typically has to do with the particular board set up. There are some boards that allow this and others that do not. This one doesn't and its not something that can necessarily change without getting a new forum type.

Why does WrongPlanet have all of these restrictions? I thought this would be a SAFE place, but it's not as safe as it looks! Let's make it so WrongPlanet will let us change our username, take down our posts that have replies on them and even delete our account if we need to!
As forums go it is pretty safe. But as I said this is still the internet and much of what you post is public. Generally everything you're asking for is done by requesting it from a Moderator. There needs to be reasonable cause though. You can't go requesting a bunch of threads you made be removed because you just don't want them anymore.
