Anyone else hate religion and the ignorance it stands for?
I believed in God at one point in my life.
As soon as I got old enough, I realized that God was just an illusion my mind needed to rationalize the world.
I made a complete turn-around, and now that I'm an Atheist, I'm happier and healthier that ever.
I no longer worry about going to hell or screwing up my relationship with an imaginary being.
I no longer feel guilty when I do something that the church believes is wrong.
Essentially, Atheism has freed me from my spiritual bondage.
Anyone else have the same experience?

I have been such a good girl this year.

sorry, I do beleive in God and try to do the right things (most of the time). I have faith, I dont need God to prove his existance to me to know he exists, and could not imagine a universe without him.

I think there IS a higher power of some sort, but I need more proof before I believe a specific religion. Right now I'm a Buddhist, as I admire their beliefs, though I can't follow it well yet.

No, being anything (e.g., atheist, theist, etc.) for emotional reasons just seems silly. I'm an atheist for intellectual reasons.

Well, I sometimes have a problem with religion, but that depends on the content of the beliefs and the certitude with which their held.

Also, false beliefs can in some ways discourage ignorance (e.g., "I'm astounded by God's creation and wish to understand it better; so I'll be a scientist" [though most scientists are atheists]).

Don't like it, don't read it. I doubt you'd react the way you did if he instead attacked an issue concerning politics.

Also, people need a place to vent, even if you don't like what's on their minds.

for some reason I am having a difficult time accepting this as fact? Is this really true? I mean, I LOVE science, was really good at it in high school and collage. I do tend to look at the universe thru a scientific lense, and LOVE reading about astronomy, physics, that kind of thing. The universe is such a mysterious place, and as it turns out it functions stranger then anyone can even begin to imagine, such strange things even an overactive childs imagination doesnt even come close to some of the crazy stuff going on in quantium physics and blackholes.

Science has yet to explain this kind of stuff, and may never explain it 100%. Basicly I think that tho their is a scientific explination for EVERYTHING out their in the universe, I STILL beleive in God and very much enjoy watching shows like ghost hunters, lots of science to explain an unknown phenomina for instance. I think more people then you think in the science feild think like I do, I trust in science, but have faith in God.

Yes, most scientists (especially in Europe) are atheist.

Until you see my reaction to such a thread, I'd appreciate it if you didn't make assumptions.

I believe that God is something people who were extremely paranoid about whats beyond life made up for comfort.

I'm sorry if this offends anyone who does believe in God. I'm not attacking anyones beliefs, i'm just expressing mine.
