Yes you're right you should tell them, see you in court. Unfortunate you can't cope without your job financially

Yes, and the labor laws in the particular state I live in aren't very worker-friendly. It is what is called a "hire or fire" state, meaning that the company can fire you without reason at any time (with the exception of obvious discrimination) and they don't get in trouble for it and you don't even get unemployment. My boss could walk up to me right now and say "you're fired because you don't like football" and that is perfectly acceptable.
