i personally find emotional maturity age labelling offensive as my nt father labels me as "someone with the the maturity of an 8 year old" :roll: but then again that could be something i'm trying to fight off since I'm trying to prove to my dad his information isn't always right. I mean i do have some difficulties, i have problems with navigation, i can't drive, i can't ride a bicycle, i get uncorfortable around odd looking people (which there are a lot of where i live), i have a boatload of beanie babies and stuffed animals and old toys that need new homes, i still have cds of bands that aren't even around anymore (90s bands like Nsync and 98 degrees) but i also have some more "adult" wants: I want a job, I want to take a class, I want a boyfriend loves me for me (NT guy plz), I want a better freaking apartment that won't have crappy appliances, plumbing, ceiling fixtures and such and a better maitenence crew when something does get broken.

I think that is very common with autism. I hear autistics tend to mature at a slower rate & average about a 3rd younger mentally than their physical ages. I kind of feel like I'm a teen mentally. My family & others kind of sheltered me & treated me more like a kid partly because of my AS,. physical disabilities & dyslexia. I'm also immature because of my AS too.

Nowadays, I feel that I'm a 21 year old trapped the body of a 37 year old.

It routinely freaks me out (since I discovered ASD) that I was the emotional equivalent of a ten- to fourteen-year old during college. No wonder I had so many issues! {'Specially since I just brute-forced my way through my problems. No choice.}
