It helps me do things I am apprehensive about. I literally do a mental checklist of what the worst things that could happen are, and if I am willing to accept them I MIGHT then actually do it. It is better then when I was younger and would just scream inside.

That makes sense, or some other similar interpretation. If you investigate, you could find out more. If I were in that situation, I'd definitely bring someone with me, too.
