yeah well if being "seperated" from the masses means constant depression, anxiety resulting from even minor encounters with strangers amongst other things id rather be neurotypical

Same here. Especially since I only have a mild case of Aspergers, so I'm not affected in any physical way and my outer shell has a NT appearance.

When I tell people I have it, they say "You don't look like it".

That's only because most people have the "Rain Man" stereotype of autism. If you aren't exactly like Rain Man, they will say that.

The thing of it is, the neurotypicals don't seem very happy themselves. So why not be happy about being an aspie and practice a little self love? It's not like we can snap our fingers and change it. We can only try to utilize our strengths and compensate for our weaknesses so as to achieve a balanced, authentic life, just like anybody else. We look for meaning, whatever that is for us as individuals, and we all suffer. No better nor worse. We should learn to love and respect ourselves, whether our instinct is to seek safety with or away from the herd. We have to beat down our own path, so might as well learn to enjoy the scenery of the wilderness.

Yay, a positive attitude in The Haven! Personally, I thank God a lot that I am an Aspie, simply because I can't really imagine myself as an NT.

I'm not happy I'm an aspie. I feel like a humanoid Toyota Prius/Camry Hybrid or a walking MacBook Pro.

why is the reverse sentiment here?

You live in your own fantasy world buddy. I'm just sick of being a souless, emotionless talking head. Or for lack of a better analogy, a humanoid Prius.

I don't get how someone can love being disabled.

Also people really need to quit with this whole attitude that all NTs are the same and being an aspie makes you individual

We aren't disabled. By that logic, NTs are disabled because they aren't as logical as us. But that's rubbish. We're just good at different things.

If you keep going on about how horrible everything is, you'll get it stuck in your head, then you'll fail at everything because your mind will be full of negative thoughts about how "disabled" you are.

yes, AS is a disability
we are the disabled ones, NT's are the normal ones
its not admitting defeat, its admitting what you are, so you can work past it and progress as a person in the world
not sit in seclusion saying "I am proud to have AS" and then in the next thread, complain why girls won't go out with you

While I respect the notion of being proud of AS, I must say that I despise this kind of elitism.
