& actually you just made a good point. Most of your body heat is lost through your head. If i lose my hair, i'll prolly be considerably colder all the time, & in a manner of speaking, that's not cool

We have a wonderful new invention called a 'hat'. It's not licensed for widespread use, but they've commenced phase 3 clinical trials already in the UK....

Actually, a surprising amount of women do start losing their hair when they're older (and not just from chemo). It's not as widespread as guys, but that almost makes it worse as the stigma is greater. Most wear wigs to cover it, or opt for elaborate perms that disguise it.
You're right though, I'm not the one in your situation and I don't know how I'd react if I did start losing mine. I hope I'd be sensible enough to realise it's not the end of the world (if anything, it'd be an excuse to shave it all off- something I've been threatening to do for years
), but it would be upsetting at the start.
I wasn't trying to say you were being superficial, just pointing out that the reason more research goes into blindness and life threatening illnesses is that well, the latter are life threating and the former is severely debillitating.
Though considering how profit driven pharmaceutical companies are and how common hair loss is, it is kind of suprising more haven't tapped into that market.
