Why couldn't I have been born a boy?
There are many successful, not necessarily attractive women in the world. Look at the female supreme court justices. In fact a number of corporations recruit women over men because they want to be "diverse." There are more women in medical school today than men, and I believe women outnumber men in law schools as well, or at least it's pretty close. I'm not saying this to contradict you, just to give you a different perspective.
However I do think in the less-than-prestigious professions women do have it rough, and yes there is a lot of prejudice against less than attractive women in the dating field, but not every guy is gorgeous either and if you look for someone based on their heart and not their looks, they might do the same.

They recruit women over men to save money because they get paid less and to avoid a lawsuit. I have a degree in Writing and what good does that do when there are no f*****g jobs? Even Walmart isn't getting back to me. That's how bad it is. The store just opened two weeks ago and I thought that there would still be openings. D:
I sympathise. Society has a box for everyone, male or female. I think women have it worse, but there's a box for men too. We have to like sports, like violence, not cook or clean (I like to cook for my wife and I can't stand a mess) and be entirely without emotion, except when it comes to sports teams.
Oh, and we have to like eating meat and drinking.
I know these seem like petty whining in the face of "lower wages, second class citizens in society, victims of oppressive patriarchy", but it's part of the same dynamic.

Trust me, I would be much better at being a man. I love drinking and meat and I've always kicked guy's asses since I was a little girl. I feel like I was given a vagina by mistake. D:
Girl, I have 10 years of retail experience, office management experience, over 20 years of customer service experience and positive work references and Walmart has never called me on an application. Screw 'em. If you're looking for retail, think about specialty stores like Michael's or Bed, Bath & Beyond. BB&B was a lovely place to work.

I know you are frustrated, and I can see that you are very intelligent, but this isn't very constructive, and you know it. You have been posting things like this for quite a while now, and it's gotta stop sometime, because I know what happens when it doesn't. I don't mean that in a self-righteous way, I mean that in a "Stop this freight train while you still can" kind of way. You have time. It may not seem like it, but you have time. It's not just the rural redneck part of PA that's like that. People around there are just more blunt and up front. The more "accepting" parts of MD and NY are like that too, only they are better at pretending they aren't. NY is full of great actors...heh.
As far as being a boy is concerned...well, if you have paid any attention to these forums, you might notice that being a boy isn't all it's cracked up to be. Plenty of guys wish they were girls. Now, you might say "Well those guys wish they were desirable girls" but then again, you probably wish you were a desirable guy. Guys have to have looks as well, but if they don't have money...forget about it. You can surf those threads on your own and get a good explanation. In any case, here's a big hug. *hugs*
Let's get real. If you were a man, you'd be here complaining about how less qualified women get jobs before you because of affirmative action and how this is so unfair to you. You'd complain about how women can get any help they want by flashing their boobs or flirting, how they have the option to stay home and raise kids where you're pre-determined by society to work until you die, how you feel inadequate compared to other men in gym locker rooms based solely on the size of genitals, how you can't be nice to a woman without her accusing you of sexual harassment and stalking, and feel compelled to speak up as an exception every time a woman starts talking about systematic sexism and male privilege. Then, on top of all that, you'd have to carry around a penis in your pants all the time.
Drink beer, eat meat, burp and fart all you please... but you were born with a vagina because there's too many d*cks in the world as it is.
(That last statement is gonna get me in trouble with the fellas, I bet.)

but it didn't gain me anything more than some d*ck, which is not a commodity that is worth anything, really. You don't even get to keep it since it's attached to someone else and most of the time you don't want to keep what it was attached to.

Stay away from the text-speaking idiots. They aren't men. They're male but those are not real men. If you seek respect from those unable to respect themselves, you'll be disappointed every time.
Amen We Function. I've met many pricks in my day & age. One who even had the balls to hit on me in front of my first husband & my kids.

Erisad: What I would add is that you are *just* 21. You have so much opportunity ahead of you. I know it's difficult to be patient, but something will eventually turn up. Don't worry about guys right now. If you live in an area where there aren't any gems, toss 'em back. Who says you have to settle for someone who doesn't measure up to your standards? Guys aren't the only ones who should be able to choose the pick of the litter. In fact, a woman's standards are completely different than a guy's. And besides, if he only wants someone who's hot, that's just lust. That's not about love or a commitment. You don't want anyone like that anyway....it's just unnecessary heartache. It's a painful path to follow,so steer clear of the misogynists. Trust me, they're not worth or time or energy. Tehy only break hearts. Just bide your time & take care of you. I wish I had been born male too, but that's just not how it is. We gotta play the hand we were dealt, even if some of the cards suck. I would say that there's a very good chance, you'll end up with better cards in your hand in the future. Just keep trading the ones you have for ones further down the deck.

maybe your life is just at a bit of a low point right now...which always that tends to magnify our insecurities, and we search for a reason to blame for why we aren't happy. with women this seems to result in scrutiny of our looks.
i often wonder, why so much being based on looks is an altogether bad thing. people say it's unfair/wrong/shallow and other things should count more....but intelligence/personality are just as nature-given as looks are:S. why is it so wrong for the pretty people to use what they were given to get ahead, when the rest of us use what we were given and see nothing wrong with that. it's like someone isn't deserving of success derived from beauty, but why then should we be deserving of success derived from intelligence. we feel angry if someone has it easy because of their looks but i imagine the pretty but dumb sorts feel the same at school when the born intellectuals are breezing through lessons.
don't get me wrong, i do it too sometimes- hate how life is so much easier for beautiful people and find myself wrapped in envy. but it's just something i've wondered
i don't think i even made sense:D
oh, and i often fancy being a boy too. don't mean to trivialise your lives or owt, but it does seem dead simple sometimes.

I'm looking for anything. All I hear back are from scam insurance companies and it's frustrating. The economy can suck my phantom cock.
Please, I can't get anything by flashing or flirting. If I flashed, I'd be arrested for public indecency and that's only if I showed my stomach. And I feel inadequate agaist other women because they're more attractive than me.
I was born with a vagina that doesn't even work so what's it good for? :/
Mindslave - So you're saying that men are fatphobic jerks everywhere? *sigh* If only I were a lesbian. *hugs*

If I was a woman, I would be complaining about how all guys want is sex, and how all guys are the same, and how guys are always allowed to say what they want, and how guys get to choose whoever they want, and how everyone is discriminating against me because I'm a woman, and how I can't be a doctor, and how I can't play sports, and how I can't be myself, and how I can't do this, and how I can't do that, and how I can't do anything because people tell me that I can't.
As a biological representative of the male gender (Culturally I class myself as of the female gender due to my father being a poor role model of being a man) please feel free to air your anger of how society treats you as second class and with contempt.
I can only apologize for the lies and BS that society gives you about being a woman.
The turth is when lies and BS are knocking you self believe, Society been giving you trash view about being a woman. Now please do tell me what you do trash now? As you need to the same to the trash society has been giving about being female, get rid of it. As getting rid of it will you help you to quickly to achieve what you what in your life.
Please stop telling the patriarchal misogynistic bastards that they're wrong, show them that there wrong as thats the best way to wipe there f*****g sumg smiles off there faces!! !
NEVER LET THE PATRIARCHAL MISOGYNISTIC BASTARDS GET YOU DOWN!! !
NEVER GIVE UP ON YOUR DREAMS, AS YOU CAN DO IT AND MAKE THEM COME TRUE!!
but all i can say is, do u want a hug?
its not really my place to say, but if a guy only likes someone "cos theyre hawt" - then they're probably an asshat anyhoo.
Sadly, that's how the men are in my area. They're sports men who like the "cheerleader" kind of girl. I hate sports. I really want to move so I can get in with a smarter crowd. I hate the redneck part of Pennsylvania. D:
Oh, and PA rednecks suck! I grew up in small town PA, yecch! Once you get to a less rednecky kind of place, you'll find the caliber of men is much better!
EDIT: I do NOT agree with whoever said it's the same everywhere. I grew up in small town PA-ville and when I got out of there and started meeting people from all over the place, I saw a definite difference.
