I know every situation is different, but I understand and sympathise with your situation, from personal experience. Your Father’s comments do seem very cold. Have you let him know how they made you feel? There may or may not be something behind his reasoning.

Best wishes to you and your family in these trying times.

I felt the exact same way when I told my mum that Pete Quaife of The Kinks passed away last June. I was hoping for words of condolences from my mum and all that she told me was, "They're old! People don't last forever!" in that famous sarcastic tone that I've come to expect from her. That's the last time that I tell her that any of The Kinks pass away. She won't hear any such news in the future. I swear that she's Satin sometimes.

I'm also sorry about the way that you dad reacted to you over the phone. He could have been more sensitive about your feelings.

I would feel very sad if one of the members from Rush died and would want to share that news with someone for consolation and discussion. Rush isn't even as close to my heart as the Kinks are to you. I'm sorry your mom didn't reach out, CR.

For anyone who wonders if my father may not have meant the comment maliciously, please let me tell you that this is the same sadistic man who would always torture your pets in front of you and smiled while he watched you be unable to stop him.

There is a good reason why I titled my thread "the last straw". He is so demonic that psychologists always ask me whether he's a Satan-worshiper, over and over. But no, he worships nothing whatsoever: he is evil all on his own without any supernatural assistance.

What a monster. I am glad that you survived.

Shun him.
