I think even NTs do that. I do that all the time. And sometimes an awkward moment would just come to my head and then I would just have trouble going back to sleep. lol

I definitely do this. Especially rehearsing conversations before I have them . . . in my case this generally occurs by me writing thoughts I have difficulty articulating in my journal, then later as a result having confidence to mention them in conversation. If I have an important conversation coming up, or an essay to write, a block of time spanning like a week in my journal will be dedicated to working out what I think of it. Also online blog posts/ journal posts, and I'll talk to different friends to work out what I should say to a friend directly later. I guess most do this to some extent, but it's fairly central aspect to how I communicate with others.

I do it all the time. I'm a funnier, wittier, more fluent and perceptive person in my head than when it's time to actually talk though :P . Sometimes it helps me after an argument, I perform way better in round two and beyond, but otherwise I feel bad for dwelling in the past too much. It's entertaining though.

For future conversations, that happens sometimes as well, but I find it more efficient to just make a mental list of the things I want to accomplish or talk in the next conversation, and whenever there is an awkward pause go to the next topic. I can only small talk with a limited set of people, so it's pretty helpful.
