autistic attacked on street.

Giraffe: a ruminant with a view.
I live in the middle of a forest, and went for my normal walk, except I was seen by two men who decided I wasn't 'normal' when they looked at me. I had my shoulder weight on, and I was barefoot (which apparently was weird even though grass is soft) and a paper hat. I appreciate that wasn't exactly their idea of 'normal' but they tried to talk to me.
I tried to be polite, and I spoke to them, but I was extremely cautious, because 1) it's always difficult to talk to people and 2) they were two strange men I had never seen before. I should point out I was twelve years old then. It was exactly two weeks until my birthday.
They decided they should call the police, and did so without telling me or asking if I was OK. When I saw the police, I panicked, because I was frightened they would get me (I'd always had nightmares about being taken away by the police and institutionalised or something) and the siren noise and high visibility jackets were just a massive sensory overload. I ran away, and was dragged to the ground by a very large male officer. I got up, and began to run again, and then when he grabbed my arm I hit out at it to make him let go. He didn't. I was screaming and crying when two large female officers grabbed me legs, and the three of them handcuffed me and pushed me to the ground.
I was dragged to a police car where I was subjected to abuse: 'Oh, yeah, turn on the waterworks, we've never seen that before,' and 'It's stupid kids like you wasting the force's time,' on my way home, where I was unceromoniously handed back to my family, and told very reluctantly the charges against me had been dropped (they had booked me for assaulting a police officer, although they had done more harm to me than I to them, or him, because I did nothing I haven't stated).
That was last July. I still flinch at siren sounds and freeze when I see police officers or cars. It has made me so frightened, and even less confidant than I was before. I still have scars on my feet from where they dragged me roughly, and a cut on my finger got infected and spread to the rest of my hand, and still hasn't heeled properly.
Because an 5'4'' autistic girl was enough of a public danger to warrant three huge, abusive, and cruel police officers, an arrest, scarring, and long lasting psychological damage.
I never thought I'd be one of those anti-police people...but I gotta say - those pigs should get a real job.

Yeah but you have to understand some people walking around these days are clinically ret*d. Its kinda like hitting an animal at the zoo. If you do it, you have to expect to get attacked.

im sorry but you must be a moron,
they knocked my ear defenders of my head and im suverley autistic, now, imagine sensory issues and then imagine them as SUVERE sensory issues, then imagine how you would deal with the only think that keeps your ears away from all the noises knocked off your head.

Yeah, I agree. They started the fight, not you.
Knocking headphones off somebody is assault. It's even worse when they're autistic and having to be in a noisy place without them is literally painful.
That "sound shock" thing has happened to me. Usually it's when somebody honks at me for no good reason.
Blog entry bitching about it

I don't know who told you that, but probably the same idiots who say the money I get when going to Larchfield can be spent on anything or fuel & the people who actually give the money A4e say it's only to be used for Larchfield. You do live in england or is this DLA in USA?
a care component - if you need help looking after yourself or supervision to keep safe
a mobility component - if you can't walk or need help getting around
Some people will be entitled to get just one component; others may get both.
The care component and mobility component are paid at different rates depending on how your disability affects you.
It’s important that you give the Disability and Carers Service (DCS) accurate information so that you get the right amount. If any of the information you have given changes, then you must tell the DCS. They will then check that you are still receiving the correct amount.

edit: Also if you didn't know the system is changing over in 2013 & you will have to have a medical like I have for "Incapacity Benefit" or whatever it's called now.

I feel sorry for you, nintendofan.
But your reaction was dangerous for yourself, too.
But I understand it.
Once at a green light me and other people were crossing the street and a car came on high speed and stopping the very last moment directly at my right side. I got into a meltdown immediately and was slamming with my fists onto the hood. The guys were coming out of the car and the other people had to protect me from them.
Though I understand your reaction perfectly well, you might get hurt even more badly.
People are mean sometimes...

Those guys were picking a fight with Nintendo Fan before they even got near. They picked her out because they could see how different she was. They provoked her and because Nintendo Fan doesn't have the best control over her emotions she lashed out. She also didn't say in the first part of her post that she knew they were drunk.
I'm on a disability pension and there's no control on what you spend it on. I'm in Australia though. The 3DS offers a good distraction so could be put down as a stimming toy but here you don't need to do such things. Judging Nintendo Fan based on what she chooses to buy is missing the point of the post and such things aren't tolerated in The Haven.
Fact is those guys picked her out as an easy target. Drunk or not it should never be tolerated.

i got paid DLA (disbility living allowance) and was going to go buy a cheap laptop.
i went to the bus stop and had a major meltdown (beating self in legs and head with fists) .
but there wasnt anyone around and i manged to distract myself playing on 3DS the bus came so i got on it, and was walking to the crossing to cross on to the main street i only cross the street when its on green man, so i pressed the button and waited. then i looked to the left and seen a gang of young pepole about my age maybe older coming around the coner , they come up to the stop next to me so i ignored them and looked the other way, i was wearing my ear defenders to keep calm, the kind of ear defenders you see bulders use. so i was just waiting for green man like i said, and then i felt my ear defenders being sharply swept off my left ear and they all laughed at me so i picked them up, one of them from the gang was waling around behind me suspiciously so i went up to him when he came closer and hit him on the back ( 2 times, not that hard) and when he turned around i said "you knocked my ear defenders im autistic you knocked my ear defneders!) so then someone behind me shouted "oi man dont hit my brother! " (by the way i should probably mention the person i hit dosnt actualy have any brothers, as the police confirmed) so then i said im autistic one of you knocked my ear defenders! (off my head and it hurt and i started panicing cos i couldnt block out noise anymore) so then he started crossing the street and turned around and punched me in the face nearly breaking my nose,so i just sat on the floor and screamed and cried, it was about 10 minutes before anyone tried to help me.
the police agreed with my mum about me saying im autistic and that they shouldnt have hit me,and that it was perfectly fine for me to react and hit one of them for smacking my ear defenders off my head. the police even said if they didnt want me to do that they shouldnt of done that in the first place. it was actualy confirmed that the person i hit was a part of the group. and alot of locals were saying they just got kicked out of a pub and were more than likley very drunk.
they are also checking the "cctv" cameras at the pub and where it happend to try and find the person that did it fulther.
i even have "autistic" neatly taped to one of the ear defenders. so pepole understand.
the police said i did nothing wrong and it was perfectly understandable as to how i reacted.
and the fact that the person that hit me was drunk out of his mind...
the police are sorting it out and the person will be going to "court" as its called.
You escalated a confrontation and couldn't back it up. It's best to learn to avoid doing that unless you can back it up, autistic or not.
Most people on the street wouldn't know you're autistic anyways or even care. I'm not sure if taping it to your ear defender is enough either. All they know is that you're wearing something over your ears and look like a dork. It's not a good idea anyways since you should be aware of your surroundings.
Also, depending on where you live, it wouldn't be a wise move to help you. You could be someone who would turn on me. What should have been done is to notify the cops about someone going crazy in the street.
I don't know who told you that, but probably the same idiots who say the money I get when going to Larchfield can be spent on anything or fuel & the people who actually give the money A4e say it's only to be used for Larchfield. You do live in england or is this DLA in USA?

i was told by DLA officials, i can spend it on anything i want.
i get highest for care and lower for mobility.
would you emagine them keeping track of every single payment made bypepole on this benifit? i dont think so...
i dont have to prove what i need to spend it on or why anything is needed to buy.
the money is paid to make me happy, because i am UNABLE to get a job, if you had a job and got paid what would you spend it on? .
i dont need the money to pay bills, and the DLA KNOW that. they were fine with that,

and it wasnt just guys there were a few girls there to.
the only reason i went out was to buy a laptop from ARGOS cos our computer isnt working much,
after it all happended i had to give my brother my money before the police took me home and he go to get it for me. he got a bottle of dr.pepper for it (his idea) haha.
