Without looking at youtube, that sounds like an oxymoron. Mumbo-jumbo dressed up as science?

Not at all. That was my first impression upon hearing the name too, but that's not what it is. It's amazing, and I can't even begin to describe it... Just go watch it instead of just passing judgement.

Can't watch it. YouTube block download of videos to folks like me who are stuck with dial-up internet. YouTube is effectively a dead site for me.

No, they died from smoke inhalation. The pets were all huddled under my mother's bed. We tried to get them to come, but they wouldn't. The fire spread too quickly and we had to get out. They were spared actually being burned but it's still no less horrible a way to die.

I don't expect that people are gonna understand how I was raised or how this kind of thing impacts me. I'd just rather be spared the idiotic jokes about invisible men, Santa Claus and gods made from spaghetti.

It never ceases to amaze me how quickly people who say they don't believe in God will shake their fists at the sky, cursing Him.

Well, humans wanted the knowledge of good & evil - we sure as heck got it.

I wish belief in God was an automatic "get out of trouble FREE" card but it ain't... any good works are usually by good people, not "miracles"... though I've experienced some very pleasant "coincidences" and "lucky breaks" in my day too. This world is unfair from top to bottom - and that's just the way it is - we can choose how to make the best of it for either personal gain at the expense of others, or we can sacrifice self for the betterment of others.

You want to blame someone for the fire that killed your pets? Figure out how the fire started.

I don't intend to explain to you the concept of religious confliction. I'm apologize to myself for bringing this up in a moment of personal crisis. Someday I will learn my lesson that teh intrawebz is a wretched hive of scum and villainy that should never be called upon when one finds themselves at need. They find far more enjoyment in mocking your pain then aiding you in getting past it.

Maybe God's not in charge any more. Maybe Satan took over sometime in the last few hundred years. Let's ask the sky. Survey says...

I never cursed God. As far as I am concerned he is a character of literature and nothing more. Are people incapable of detesting and loathing fictional characters? No. Because half the time that is what gets people invested in stories. They want the 'Good' guys to win and the 'Bad' guys to lose. Humans in the story of Genesis were mindless, without will, sentience or intelligence until they were 'tempted'. Which, begs the question. How were they tempted if they lacked the prior? Why would a creator refuse to grant his creation intelligence? He has nothing to fear? Does he? Why would he create the Garden of Eden or allow Lucifer to even 'tempt' them in the first place? Why would he create them knowing they would end up damning themselves to live outside Paradise? Why would he damn them? Why would God create Lucifer with the ambition to overthrow him? Why would God sentence Lucifer and his angels to burn in hell for all eternity when they posed no threat to him. Is God sadistic? Why would he be sadistic if he is a being of good? Why didn't the angels have free will until they 'fell'. One could argue Lucifer /freed/ them. Seriously. If you can answer my questions without saying, "Don't question God. His rationale is beyond your comprehension." and have the answers make sense I'll throw my hands into the air and praise Jeebus right now.

If cursing 'God' helps the guy feel better. Let him. Don't attack him because he's insulting your imaginary friend.

Jeebus? Wow you're brilliant. I'm sure he's really motivated to explain it to you now.

Then maybe you shouldn't ask for help in the form of hurling insults?

Perhaps if religious people wouldn't give such ridiculous answers as the examples he's given, he might be more likely not to belittle the religion. I've met with the same BS in asking the same and other similar questions. The only responses I ever got were "screw you, go away," "god works in mysterious ways that are not to be understood by people," or "ask a priest/preacher/minister/whatever other names there are for the guy who stands at the front of the church and tells you what to believe on sundays." And if I ever actually ask one of those church people, I get one of the other two responses from them.

So I don't blame him one bit, even if it is a bit disrespectful, as I feel those kinds of answers are equally disrespectful.

Namaste.

He's only disrespecting himself since "I'll throw my hands into the air and praise Jeebus" sounds like something a dumb-redneck would say in church. :lmao:

Well, it seems to have struck a nerve with you... Instead of ridiculing, perhaps you could try to answer his questions? Afterall, isn't christianity supposed to be a religion about compassion and love for one another? Doesn't it say we are all god's children? And shouldn't you therefore try to help those wayward souls who are lost or confused about god by at least attempting to answer their questions?

I never said I was christian, so you're about as smart as him.
