I have no intention of overdosing on my already heightened dosage of Risperdal.

I used to be on that stuff. How is it treating you? I was getting too tired on it, that's why I changed (originally) to Amisulpride.

Well SteelMaiden at the moment to be honest, it's not working at all.

All it's doing is giving me annoying, pounding headaches, it's making me incredibly drowsy and I have strong feelings of nausea.

On the mental side, again nothing doing. It's not at all lifiting my mood.

Change. I mean it. Change medication. If its useless, then change. Otherwise things can go seriously, seriously wrong. I survived through a hell of a lot of sh*t with olanzapine, but that's because it worked with me.

Me and my mum really want to change my medication, but we'll just get the "Give it the whole month" suggestion.

Psh. Get off it if you can't take it.

Agreed, you'd probably get even more messed up if you keep taking it, so go see your doctor about it, especially with what you're describing is happening to you. Let me just say, if you've been taking the medication for over a year now continuously, seek doctor's advice definitely because you could be over-dosing on it despite the normal dosage, (due to the body accumulating the drug long-term in the liver).

Then its good that I stopped taking mine without my doctor's advice. I was prescribed olanzepine in November 2005 and I am still meant to be taking it?!

It's subjective depending on the drug itself because some do it, some don't and some take forever to reach that point. Although if you're not suffering any major (or severely irritating ie. blurred vision) side effects or illness and it's still having it's intended effect, then you should be fine in taking it. Although it's usually when you notice the intended effects are starting to become non-existent or you're getting ill or have delusions, is when you should see a doctor about it. The reason why seeing a doctor is important is because, some drugs can cause severe withdrawal effects if suddenly stopped, and he/she should know what to do.

Thank you for the advice.
I gradually reduced the dose until one day I stopped taking it. I experienced insomnia for a short while, but now I sleep my (normal) 5-6 hours a night. The problems I had were: hair loss (especially when I washed my hair - I would lose handfuls of it), tiredness (I would have to nap 2+ times a day), (hopefully) temporary termination of my periods and seeing the whole world from behind a half-grayed out pane of glass. I am now a much happier person and I have been returned back to my original level of hyperactivity! XD

DUDE, congratulations! I am very, very happy for you; no more mind-altering chemicals! Now you can feel that you are yourself and not a pill-modified human. XD

I've been feeling the same before, when taking them, and after I stopped taking them.

Oh well. I'll eventually feel happier again.

Unfortunate. Perhaps the medication was quite useless for you.
Mine dragged me out of a huge, huge black hole.
Thank you olanzepine, although I have disregarded you now.
