I knew what car I wanted to drive as soon as I hit Jr High (7th / 8th year of schooling). I wanted to drive a vintage beetle. I got one in 9th grade from a junk yard for $500. I spent the next 5 years fixing it before I learned how to drive. Now I feel uncomfortable driving anything else. I do almost everything by myself however I found a shop that I can trust when I am impatiant.
I knew someone as a kid who bought his first Beetle at like age 12 or 13 for like a hundred bucks or something, and when I met him when he was in high school, he restored it. Pretty sweet.
