Being a veteran or having a drug problem has nothing to do with it. If you get SSI, then you can get some type of government housing. Either get your name on the list in CA. The list is long, so do it soon. Or move somewhere else where you can get it sooner. But wasting more money on things that are going to get stolen does not make sense.

You obviously have internet service, so do some research, man.

...I NEED CLOTHES , for one ! !! !! !! !! You expect me to go around nekkid , as my mother would have used to put it ?
I AM , as it happens , sort of trying to see what I could , MAYBE , get on here in SC - But , thinking " You can automatically get a place " is SO wrong :x .
I DON'T HAVE A COMPUTER (even a smartphone) now , even ! !! !! !! !! !!
How do you suggest I " go somewhere else " ?
That worked out semi-disasterously when I tried going to WA State .
I am ~ REALLY ~ annoyed , more than annoyed , actually I want to say something like " Get your ~ (blank) ~ head out of your posterior/sheep " but I suppose the Mod would disapprove .
What the ~ (blank) ~ do you know  :x :( ???????????

What sort of list are you on to get housing?

I'm sure that you've tried all options.

It's a hand-to-mouth existence you're on right now. I hope you get that housing soon.

In the meantime, just think of it this way: the rainy season is ending--at least until September. Just get yourself a warm blanket for when the fog comes in. I know how cold it is when you get the sea breeze.

...Let me point out some of my needs ~ I have just the one set of clothes , and they're really no thick/warm enough . I could get second-hand Ts and pants at Sally Army/the like , probably (though a thick coat for the outer layer w/lots of pockets might not be so findable at 2nd hand) .
My underwear is , ONCE AGAIN  , filthy/spoiled :( - I mentioned the hour by bus to WV , or , here in SC , I can pay as much or more for 50% less shorts , it's more expensive here - To be around here , however , I am now thinking that I'd have to pay the 100% more price to not distract myself w/two-plus hiours to WV ~ If I got some extra money , I could get some more underwear later in the week .
My shoes are the strap Chaco sandals that are wearing out , remember . As for even some cheaper Payless-type ones , I am carless , and finding more " normal , All-American " chain-type stores is difficult , when you can't drive to the shopping centers/malls such stores tend to be located at .
I REALLY need pants that can be held up with a belt , drawstring-type trousers tend to creep downward on me :( .
However , again , belts are , certainly at my size (Which goes for my foot size , too .) , are very hard to find , not to mention expensive .
One of the two pairs of (generic :( ) glasses I last bought is already falling apart , a lens popping out (& back in now but of course it'll pop out again :( ).........My lying down/etcetera with my stuff in my pockets all the time breaks things quicky :( ...........

...I really don't think the housing is particularly " likely " , it's one list I've been on for a long time & I am sti; a little unclear to what extent I am " fully " on it , anyways :( . My time is running out now , so.........

...I have this substitute , donated , bedding - Warm , but , much too big to fit into my luggage .
I will toss it and get more size-suitable bedding Tuesday ! (one of the reasons I decided that dedicating much of Tuesday to WV cant likely be done) , paying for it...
To show you how " practical " I am and deserving of help , I'd rather like a " nice " , camping-type , backpack , but what I've got is okay now , I guess .
I really need to have two , ane-and-a-half , anyway , sets of clothes , making my main ones thicker and allowing for at least secondary/while-washing--after-an-emergency clothes :( .
I DO need things ! !! !! !! !! !!

...Well , off to church !...This HL-oriented Monday supper w/a Bible class/whatever before it , they are moving a little in the " be preached at first " direction , they are switching to " Preference for the limited number of food avalable if you're associated/come i0n earlier/are afilliated with the community " - I suppose their supplies may be limited - I'll say more later.........

Does that mean you have a roof over your head? If so, I would take the preaching. Once in a while, it might get interesting. Sometimes, when people "get the spirit," it gets funny.

...No , it's not a roof or shelter , it was just a class/prayer group HL-oriented , and at an Episcopal church (what I was raised in) , a church that tends toward pretty genteel/polite services , hardly a " holy roller " church .

It's understandable that you want clean underwear. Did you get the 7-8 pieces for $7.99/8.99?

Were you able to get a decent blanket?

Does going to church services take your mind off of things at times?
