Why are you stuck at that hotel? Is it for work?

Thanks :) I just want to feel better and not deal with this all the time. It's so hard to accomplish anything when I'm getting upset all the time. It often ruins any plans I make to improve myself or my situation.

If I'm awake all night crying, I accomplish nothing the next day. I miss appointments, can't get homework or housework done. I can't do job searches. And the really bad thing is, I'm usually doing just fine until it happens and then suddenly I'm not anymore.

Sorry for complaining. I have no one to talk to.

More than willing to listen, Yig.

Yeah. I'm in Albany, NY working at a pharmaceutical company. I'll be here off and on until April, unless I find a new job.

yep....that's 700 miles north of Greenville!

I hope you have a good winter coat, scarves, gloves, etc. It gets COLD in Albany--sometimes much colder than NYC, where I live. It can go down to minus 10 Fahrenheit (without the wind chill) very easily.

Do you actually live in the city--or the surrounding area?

Is the company paying for your lodging?

If you know the area, I'm in East Greenbush, just east of the Hudson, which is a stream here compared to NYC.

I am well aware of winter here. I have lived in Albany area off and on for 20 years (I went to college at RPI in Troy). I just really don't like it here. Getting forced to come here for work just feels like punishment.

In 2004, the last winter I really lived in this area, we went 2 weeks where the temperature never went above 10 deg F. I left and swore never to come back. And yet here I am...

But you know, maid this time. And it's only a few weeks, maybe a few months at most. At least it's the mildest winter ever.

If the weather gets nice, you should head up to Saratoga Springs for a day. Nice town.

East Greenbush isn't bad, either.

It's amazing: I don't think you've had snow yet (though you may have gotten some last night--but maybe an inch or so).

I wish I had an itinerant job like yours. I enjoy travelling. I like the fact you could get ice any time you want without having to make ice in the fridge. I'm just weird, I guess!

I have to keep myself on a very short leash when I'm travelling for work. If I let myself lose focus on the job, anxiety levels start increasing rapidly. If I'm having fun, I won't even notice at first. Then I start getting angry at the client, or drinking too much, or I will feel sick and start calling into work.

Plus, I got diagnosed with six different psychiatric disorders (ASD, ADHD, and a few anxiety-related disorders) on Monday, and it would have been really nice to get a chance to process that in a place I feel comfortable.

If the ponies were running in Saratoga, I would be there for sure.

You must be a really bright person to have graduated from RPI. What did you major in?

What about replacing the person you live with with a roommate? Then you could still have the bills paid, but hopefully not become emotionally entangled with the person.

I didn't graduate. I went there for nine semesters, and I owe more in student loans today than I did when I finally gave up and left 20 years ago.

Bright enough to get in, dumb enough enough to stick around even though I hated it, because I didn't know what else to do.
