Help I keep finding big spiders in my room!

This happened to me just the other day, it was on the ceiling and the size of my hand, I swear.
I freaked out and sprayed it. I'm not proud.
If you're arachnophobic then you're not going to be able to put a cup over it or catch it with anything. Just one being in the room makes me feel ill.
The only thing I can think of to do if I see one (which means there may be others) is to use surface spray around all the doors and windows, to deter others from crossing the line into the house. Theoretically this should prevent them from coming in without harming them.
