Unfortunately, a lot of the women around here are brainwashed into thinking you need to be a Christian to be a moral person and they can only date Christian men. Even if these women are open to pre-marital sex, they still demand the man to be a Christian. The few women my parents tried to set me up with, however, were completely against the idea of pre-marital sex and wanted to go to church.

Even if I started calling myself a Christian again, I would still be outside the dating realm. I went to a bible study for most of the summer of 2010 and tried to restore my faith but no women expressed any interest in me because I was still lacking the bad boy sports jock flavor most Christian men here exhibit. The men in the group also only cared about sports and the TV show Lost. They did not like anime and manga.

I would try to find a local science fiction convention to attend if at all possible. Do you live near a larger city you can travel to? Lots of nerdy women who think outside of the tribal box at those science fiction conventions.

I don't live near Austin (I am about an hour from it) but I know they always have pop culture conventions such as Comic Con, their own anime conventions, and other sorts of conventions. Not surprisingly, the rednecks hate Austin and want it destroyed but that'll never happen since they are too busy fighting each other over drugs and beer to unite.

A lot of those conventions still require a certain amount of social skills, though. I suffer from shyness and anxiety to the point it's hard to hide those things.

You do raise an interesting point though. It was after all a neurotypical dominated world that brought across racism and homophobia all sorts of crazy stuff. How can they say we are insane when they are just as capable of such madness. Neurotypicals are just so weird.

It's the uneducated and unenlightened ones who continue this sort of behavior. People who are prone to fear, being afraid of anything that is different than them are almost always conservative and live in the more rural areas of the country. People who are less afraid and more accepting also are almost always Democrat and live in the more densely populated areas or the coasts.

And additionally, I can't see your profile but I am guessing you're rather young. If you're in your 20s, yeah, people in their 20s (esp guys) are generally more aggressive and the ones most likely to commit a crime. So a bunch of young, raging idiots is never a good time for someone who is outside of the box.

I get what you are saying. I just find it hypocritical that many neurotypicals make such claims like autistic people lack empathy when they throughout history have been capable of fundamentally misunderstanding other humans and mistreating them.

And no I am 16. Their are many great neurotypials and many not so good aspies. I don't like what Markinis is saying but his grievances are legitimate.

Yep, I get what you mean. I think it is because Aspies do indeed have empathy, it's just that you show it in a way that is totally unreadable to most NTs. So we don't recognize it for what it is.

And as far as NTs doing horrible things to others, well, I don't know what to say, because look who we have as governor in my own state and who has been elected president. So honestly I got nothing lol

Yeah and as you probably know understanding people is one of the great challenges for people with Asperger's.

I was really exasperared and went too far with the thread title. It should be the general Bible Belt NT culture I am against. There are some NTs who try to make a difference but the redneck culture keeps getting in the way. Someone will try to open a bookstore and the rednecks won't support it because it's "fancy book learning" or a restaurant that isn't fast food or barbeque will struggle because it's "un-American" in their eyes.

Look I really dont see that as actually being the case. Go to New Orleans or Houston and you will see what I mean. Those places are advertised every inch for their good restaurants. Whats also true is only around 45% of people in Texas are actually religious its not exactly like you say that these people are all fudamentalists. And whats more or less true is that these places are embracing change, Texas for one has struck down its ant-sodomy law and from what understand Rick Perry and Bobby Jindal have both said they would attend a gay wedding. These places arent neccessarily screwed since they have become more tolerant.

I know what Houston is like since I happen to be a native Texan and I have been to New Orleans. I'm talking about the places outside the big cities like New Orleans, Houston, and Austin. Where I live in Temple, churches are on almost every turn and you get people trying to convert you to their faith when you just want to go about your day. The big cities certainly have open minded people but outside of them, ignorance is praised and intelligence is shunned. Drinking until you pass out is socially acceptable while trying to expand your knowledge is considered "weird" or "gay".
