Good Luck! I'm jealous. I want to go to a support group, but there are none near my home.

Are you really ashamed of having aspergers, or was that just a low moment?

I hope you can find a support group in your area. It will be exciting and it will be scarey. But I think it would be a good idea to break your isolation ... from she who avoids too much socialising.
If you can't find a support group you could think of a writer's group. Writers are generally weird and accepting. The only trouble is that they are usually old too.

Everyone in my family is NT but they all have autistic traits. My mom is very eccentric and she uses the same words and phrases all the time. My dad almost never talks and generally likes being alone. My brother is incredibly naive and can remember an astonishing amount of information about some movie or something, but can't remember simple math forumlas or homework assignments. None of them have enough traits to be considered AS (no eye-contact problems, social interaction difficulties, etc.)

Sometimes I really wish I could just live with normal NT's.

Where we live there are lots of support groups for Aspies.

Check it out before you go because some are dominated by the parents of young children with Asperger's.

Where we live they have specific ones for adults with Asperger's. They also have a 1/week computer club for the over 18's.

Also there is a volunteer Asperger's support network.

Could you perhaps volunteer at your local Asperger's group?

The other thing is you need to come and hang out at my house. 3 Aspies / 1 50:50 / 1 NT.

I'm 50:50 according to the Aspie Quiz. That's why I've always been considered wierd!

Aspie kids don't necessarily have to suffer. If they get the right help and the right type of schooling they do well.

My Ubby3 is very happy now that he's getting the right help.

Why don't you go on that new, free Aspie dating website?

I thought about that-but my parents wouldn't like that  plus I am very distrustign towards people online
my mom brought up the idea of aspergers support groups and I couldn't beleive it

I had to suffer because it was thought I was lazy and annoying and had ADD as a child I found out when I was 12
i jsut couldn't live with myself if my kid(s) had AS
I'm so ashamed and angry at who I am that...well i don't know what I would do if my future children had AS
