Sounds like he doesn’t want her to be independent. I’d say this is itself a great reason for her to fight tooth and nail to keep her independence, and preferably also to get rid of him and anyone else standing in the way.

I moved into my quarters at work yesterday and I'm really enjoying this independence but my husband ALREADY had me ask the boss if he could stay overnight this weekend! My uncle wants me to find a place near work for me and him but I'm feeling released I don't have to argue with him all day!

Surely you've told him that, right? That you need your own space? If he can't accept that then, well... make your own conclusions about that. But don't blame anything on your uncle; it's not wrong of him to wish that you two would move on with your life and get some distance from him. He probably needs his own space and time, too.

How did he have you ask your boss that? Why didn’t you just tell him he can’t—and that it’s your decision not to let him, not your boss’s?

I don't want my husband to feel like I'm turning him down.... It's pretty complicated. They are not coming over anyway.

But remember, employment is pretty important to you, and it isn't always easy to come by. So don't allow your family dysfunction to spill over into your work.

Yeah, tomorrow is my first official day where I attend a training off-site for two days... Already during an orientation I had on Friday I had my cellphone in my pocket and I had my uncle calling me demanding an answer to something at that moment when I already told him I'd be busy that morning...

I'm right their with you on the subject of sh***y husband's. This loser has a mini tantrum any time he doesn't get his own way, but will never respect my needs unless It also benefits for him. We are actually so incompatible that we/(he) can't even hold a real conversation. The deepest his brain can go is sometimes discussing something on the news and even then nothing he says is very intelligent. It may not be his fault, but I does suck for me never being able to have a truly meaningful conversation, so just left feeling isolated and with a guy thats kinda a jerk.
