Well see there's a good reason for you not to go. I on the other hand have an irrational belief that the Chinese people are judging me.

Is it that you don't want to go because you fear they might be upset to have you there or that you fear you'd feel too uncomfortable to be there? As in, are you trying to protect someone else's feelings, yours, or both perhaps?
