Grades still matter, especially if your goal was to go directly from high school into a good University. Also, grades matter more when you're autistic - they just do. 1.) They matter more to Universities and potential employers because we're certainly not selling ourselves on our social skills so had better have something to offer. 2.) They matter more to us on the spectrum because we tend to care about them and how we measure up by those standards.

So, it's not wrong that you focused on grades. It wasn't for nothing. Your grades got you into school so you could complete an education, have that knowledge, open up opportunities etc.

Because they're not autistic, made a good first impression, and interviewed well. Social skills.

I knew a lot of NTs that couldn't find jobs when they left school, whether they had grades or not. They always put it down to being young and inexperienced. If I was an employer I wouldn't hire 16-year-old high school dropouts. And how did the youngest niece get into university with no grades and train to be a doctor? I heard that you have to have certain grades to get into university.

it depends on the entry criteria of the academic institution involved.

Stop comparing yourself to other people.

I know, it's not doing me any good but at the same time I can't help it. I feel resentful and bitter about being on the spectrum and I try to think of ways to punish myself. I shouldn't have been born with Asperger's, I should have been neurotypical like everyone else.

You can't help what you are born with

I am autistic, I never finished my degree but I adore studying and I am willing to fight for it.

I don't care much about societal attitudes but I do care about people I love when I feel for them.

Never punish yourself and don't take so much notice of social attitudes.

stand up for what you belive in and find people whom like you for yourself....

they are out there

I think I just have this phobia of being the only one that hasn't done something other people in my life have done. It's even one of the reasons why I finally got my covid vaccination, I was dead against it and was scared at first but as soon as I found out my two female cousins had their vaccinations I went and booked mine because I didn't want to be the only one out of us who hasn't had it.

I also worry about the fact that I have never got my ears pierced before (or any piercings for that matter). I just can't be bothered, but at the same time I feel like the only female in the world who has never got my ears pierced - or had my hair dyed. I'd say I only know two females that don't dye their hair, but neither are NTs. Every other female I know dyes their hair (blonde females dye their hair black, brown-haired females dye their hair that reddish brown colour, and black-haired females dye their hair blonde. Ginger-haired people seem to keep their colour).

And as for drop outs doing well, people raising to extreme odds...
The act or thought of looking at them, admiring, envying, etc...

... See and read about Survivorship Bias.
It is a real form of human mind bias, just like certain effects and 'mental view' illusions.

It is a form of bias that really ignores those who did the same thing and went to the same circumstances, and then failed.
