Can't cope with all the animal cruelty in the world

It upsets me so much. I think if people could just be content with eating less meat it would be a lot better since they're so crowded due to demand. To think so much of the food produced gets thrown away.... I try to buy animal products from ethical sources and donate to a charity for farm animal welfare. Can't cut out those foods tho because eating disorder + possible IBS is not a great combo so may as well try to be as ethical as possible. I don't hate people, I think we are capable of such beautiful things but 1. the worst people get the most power and 2. the way capitalism is at the moment only brings out the worst in us. Overconsumption causes devastation :/

I don't understand that argument. Power isn't meant to be abused. Maybe it's confusing to me because in my religion we believe we are responsible for how the earth and animals are treated.

It's just that I get more traumatized by animals being tortured than humans.

And no, DON'T say I lack empathy for humans. I do have empathy for humans. I feel really bad and upset for all those innocent people that were sent to Nazi camps. That is enough to traumatize me alone.

But with animals I feel a different kind of empathy, if that makes sense. Funnily enough I can watch humans being decapitated on those gore websites, but I could not watch the same happen to an animal. It would forever disturb me.

I think it's down to the fact that most animals are cuter. Same with babies and children, I couldn't watch them being tortured either.
Have you ever played The Sims games? You can only kill adults and teenagers, but you can't kill babies, children or pets. If you try to, a social worker just appears and takes them away.
So it's not just me thinking that. I just feel we should give animals more rights than we do.

I know what you mean. Animals and children are so helpless and innocent compared to adult humans.

I also relate to this. When i hear some news about animal cruelty i get so extremely distressed to the point of getting nightmares about it. It is really triggering to me.
