I gotta be careful as this is the Haven but *slaps Joe across the face* , snap out of it , you are being hysterical.

Joe, you are clearly having reading comprehension issues at the moment. Where has anyone said Aspergers = Narcissist?

Misdiagnosing Narcissism as Asperger's Disorder

Did anyone else feel a chill up their spine after reading this?
A most disturbing assessment of autism.

The problem I have is that this sounds too definitive/black&white.
Much too SPECIFIC.
After all, it is an autism SPECTRUM.

I might look at the link more closely.

EDIT: Ironically, the website is called "HealthyPlace". 8O :lmao:

The article was written by Sam Vaknin , you should investigate him if you want troofs , he has a YT channel.

Well, as I said, I have issues with some of the things he has written, but I always try to keep an open mind.
I am not simply dismissing what he says.
I am just questioning his simplicity in some of the things he talks about regarding autism.

For example, I have no trouble looking ppl in the eyes.
I actually enjoy it, and that gets me into trouble because:
"Half the men I meet think I am gay, and half the women I meet think I am trying to crack onto them". :lmao:

While simplicity can be good in introducing complex concepts, it may also give some unenlightened ppl the wrong impression about those on the spectrum.

After all: “When you meet one person with Autism, you’ve met one person with Autism”.

You should read my posts again.
There is nothing to suggest to me you are a narcissist.

Most of my "yes" answers were pertaining to defending other people, not myself.

Example: Holding a grudge.
I don't hold a grudge against people who hurt me.
I forgive too easily. Way too easily, probably.
I said "yes" because I hold a grudge against people who hurt my friends or family.
Mess with my friends or family and I'm a mess.

I agree, he pigeonholed autism, but his speciality is narcissism, so I can forgive him for that.

It's OK.

The article quoted in this thread. I do have trouble understanding articles. What is it actually trying to say? Because to me it sounded like it was saying Asperger's=narcissism.

At one time I thought I was a psychopath.
Apparently, many on the spectrum have wondered that about themselves at one point due to often having poor empathy skills.
And, no, if you have a conscience, you aren't a psychopath. ;)

Joe:

Please watch this video.

When I first saw it I thought of your concerns about what ASD means.

It will help you understand that autism is NOT narcissism.

It is an article about the MISDIAGNOSES of Narcissism when in fact, it could be autism. ;)

The article explains how Aspergers can be misdiagnosed as NPD and explains that the similarities come from a different place.

People on the spectrum don't have poor empathy skills.
I know I don't.
I have too much empathy.
I just can't express it verbally.

That is how I saw things too.
He needs to research more into autism, imo.

NP.
Misinterpretation happens a lot with ppl on the spectrum.
Happens to me too all the time, hence my need for konstant Klarification.

BTW: Most of us can develop COGNITIVE empathy through INTELLECTUAL BRIDGES.

Christian Swenson referred to Donna Williams.
I loved her work, and especially her book Autism and Sensing.

I have it here if anyone wants to borrow.
It explains our inner life, lack of "self", and connection to surroundings perfectly.
