It's got me again today :( this is my worst addiction, and I fear it will be the one that destroys me.

Its only codeine - i dont think its physically dangerous in safe, measured doses.

Id be more worried about your levels of paracetamol/ibuprofen - ibuprofen can be quite bad for your stomach.

If my past addictions are much to go on, they get worse, your talking about someone who once collected footballs, 30 of them all at the same time, once I start, there ain't no knowing where I will wind up :(

Thought creates reality - by being pessimistic and blowing up the issue your actively encouraging a bleak future. Tonight youve taken it already, so you may as well just enjoy the buzz. Tomorrows another day, another opportunity to take less or even none at all :)

It sounds like you might benefit from something like CBT - im very wary of social services too (most state institutions actually) so my approach would be DIY - buy a introductory/self-help CBT book and learn the therapy techniques myself.

Codeine co-dependency topic

Narcotics addictions are serious and need to be addressed by a medical professional. This is not something that can be eliminated by talk therapy. Neuropathways in the brain have been altered because of drug abuse and this takes time and professional intervention in order to heal.

Thank you.

ok, lets say I did go and see someone, obviously my diagnosis is on my records, and is very frequently used by people as a cop out when it comes to seperate issues such as this one "oh it's her Asperger so she's ether making it up, overreacting" etc etc, or it goes the other way and they start trying to pin hundreds of other "disorders" on me and we all know how many money making "mental illnesses" there are about today. Nobody would listen if I went with this problem, it would be "on she's addicted because she has Asperger", which most doctors know NOTHING about and I wind up having to explain it over and over, not that she's got addicted to an addictive drug and it's a seperate problem, if I was to go with a physical illness even, I would have to get past the mountain of s**t about how it was "all part of my condition" and how there is "nothing we can do for you" I would probably have to start coughing up blood or something before any notice was taken, and I also fear overraction, as the nievety of these people can go many ways.

Ok, so I have a new plan, I will try and cut down to 2 tablets a day and try to quit them that way, I am down from 8 to 6, and tomorrow I will cut it down to 4, then to 2 and quit that way, so wish me luck :/

Sounds like a plan! It's actually healthier to taper off, then to go "cold turkey." Good luck!

Well I hope it works because I really don't want any "professionals" who are more than keen to ignore my AS diagnosis and try to pin other "disorders" on me so lets see how I go.
