Cooked white rice is quickly absorbed by the body. That's why diabetics aren't supposed to eat large amounts of it, it raises blood sugar quickly. But the carbs are needed for energy. Don't serve fatty foods. They slow down absorption. (I'm not talking about the little bit of fat that's in broth.) White bread toast, dry. Applesauce. As she's feeling better maybe add a little peanut butter to the toast to add protein, along with skinless chicken (breast meat.) After my mom had beem ill for some time, and wasn't getting any better, I insisted she drink a bunch of children's pedialyte, and she started feeling better almost right away. It's probably similar to gatorade, but you might check the nutrient labels.

Prayers and best wishes.
