Absolutely this. As RichardJ said, there has to be somewhere you can find a place to live. You have to accept that there will be rules. You’ve been “free” for most of your adult life and generally made your own rules. If you want to live, you’ll have to follow some rules you may not like. At the same time you have to be reasonable. Did you really have to stay in your bed for 20 hours a day in Patterson? I would suspect there was a living room of some sort to sit in.

A grand hyperbole this story likely be.

My aunt who's in a care home because of diabetes and CHF, complains about it a lot. Talks about how they're starving her. I've been there. I've seen what she is being given to eat and ate some of the meal she was complaining about. There was plenty of it and it tasted fine to me. But she's always been a complainer, no matter what the situation. And says everyone including family treats her badly and so on. I think they finally put her on something to make her less irascible. Meanwhile she has lost a lot of what was about 300 lbs weight and her diabetes is in remission.

The same treatment would do the world of difference for the OP.

Of course it would. And he sounds in worse shape than she was, despite the fact she's in her 70's.

The topic of the thread is how crippled the OP is. He is having trouble coping with homelessness. He frequently gets sidetracked thinking about things he wishes he could have or wrongs that have been done him. I tried to refocus the topic by pointing out the bare necessities of food, clothing, shelter, and medicines are not reliably being met.

My interventions and observations frequently piss people off, hence the signature block "Purveyor of uncomfortable truths since 1978." I am now hated, it appears, possibly because I never replied to a pretty incoherent PM from the OP in the past day or so. (shrugging my shoulders)

But these threads usually do deteriorate along the lines of the current one, with or without my involvement. And over the ten years or so the OP has been at WP, his physical health has steadily declined. Homelessness is an increasingly difficult burden and danger for him. I can't see any benefit by enabling tangents that overlook that fact.

...Going back to the tie of this post ...I really do walk slowly . This is important to understand about me. Downtown Santa Cruz is, I guess, perhaps, eight blocks upward, four blocks across (Latitude and longitude, fespectkvely??). Wki v that, even, takes me a lot of time . And now, with my back pain and carrying around x a heavy bag ...........

I am actually fully aware of the OP's situation. I believe your list of priorities to be spot on and helpful. It's depressing to know that he doesn't have a roof over his head or know where his next meal's coming from. Im sure many of us are worried about his state of health. Your country is approaching winter and I am sure I speak for many here who would like to see ASS-p have a place to go to at night without fear. Too often his stuff has been stolen, and it's been a cycle of same old same old.

I am very concerned that he cannot continue to be and may not survive indefinitely if he doesn't have shelter and a chance to recover from his health issues. Harsh but unfortunately true.

You did assist to bring the thread back on track. There are a number of folk who are really offering genuine advice. Your list is well considered.

...The 1:55 poster just piped up from the peanut gallery's statement - No, I don't feel as I do because of that person's not replying to my PM ! - seems to ignore that I am trying v to meet the " hiearchial (SP??) necessities " as best they can be met at the moment.
