Just take it slow. It may not come naturally, or easily, but it
can be learned...at least to some degree that others will consider "functioning." I'm still pretty clueless to a lot of things, but I've managed some progress over the years. I always hated "have patience" as advice, but at times that's the best advice to give. That, and don't give up.
