I'll see you all again in 2030. Don't expect me to change.

I am the same way. I wonder if I still fit in on here, and if I am still relevant.

No!

If you and CockeyRebel left, this place would REALLY not be the same. In recent memory, you two were playfully vying for highest post count.

Don't go! I can only handle so much change at a time. I (selfishly, I admit) like it when the regular posters stick around and keep being themselves.

You both are an asset to the variety of characters here at WP. I know we're all quirky, but you both stand out (in a good way) because you post a lot and are unabashed (in your own different ways) about your quirkiness. :)

I'm under the impression that the majority of active posters are quite taken with you, Cockney and Tim. I don't really know either of you, nor share any of your interests, but I'd hate to see either of you go.
A forum requires a steady supply of posts, and even with WP's impressive user count there are times when activity crawls to a maddening halt. You are both active posters, you adhere to the rules and are liked by a great deal of members. For these reasons it would be a noticable loss to WP if either of you left.

To summarise: Don't let a few harsh words bring you down, there are plenty of people here to lean on.

My interests aren't appealing to anyone, and people don't like me because I'm a Christian and vote Republican.

That sucks. One thing I've traditionally liked about this place is the variety of people. I think it's sad if it's true that some groups of people tend to feel less welcome than others.

I'm always sad to see a frequent poster go. I don't care how different someone's way of thinking is from mine; I still enjoy reading their posts. I mean, everyone, especially the people who post a lot, make a unique contribution to this forum.

I remember a time when there seemed to be greater diversity here. I mean in terms of the ways of thinking reflected in people's posts (sorry, but I'm here to exchange thoughts, not gather demographic data - not that the latter would be possible). One reason I still post here is because that diversity still exists to some extent.

My ideal forum is one where everyone is free to be themselves as long as they are basically nice to each other. I like to think this place could be like that . . . but maybe not if Tim_Tex and CockneyRebel are leaving. :?

On the other hand, I have heard of some other (new) AS sites that look promising. If any of you leave, maybe I'll happen to run into you again somewhere else. :)

OP: you shouldn't take so much notice of what random blurts on the Internets say.

I liked WP when it was diverse, but now it seems to be primarily arguing and cliques. I feel that I can't talk to conservative Christians about my interests, yet liberals--who usually have the same interests--don't want to associate with me because I am a Christian and politically conservative (but leaning toward libertarianism).

I try my best to befriend others on here, but any correspondence usually lasts no more than 2 or 3 days. And I lost three of the few loyal friends I had within the past year, one of which committed suicide, and the other two just abandoned me for no reason.

Tim, it has nothing to do with you being a catholic or republican, it has to do with the fact, that like Cockney, every one of your posts is about the same exact thing...wanting an aspie christian that likes oral sex, south park, and the simpsons, and a couple weeks ago, wh*ring yourself on the love and dating thread for pity. People here, including myself, despite not being fond of you, have given you all sorts of advice on how to improve yourself and your life, and you take and twist what we say, like when you said "I don't want to be a guy that likes sports and cars." No one said anything about sports or cars.

You're just wasting your own time if you're using this place as a crutch to feel better. I don't know if you're in therapy, but if you're not, a therapist would serve you well because he or she would be able to give you better advice on understanding yourself better and figuring out what it is what you really want. If you think me and HaleBopp and other posters are mean, we're Aspies just like you, who are trying to warn you what the real world is really like so you don't make an idiot out of yourself in public. The actual bullies are out there, and it seems your way of dealing with it is just looking for excuses on an internet message board.

There are lots of libertarians out there. You are still a liberal, but probably of the classical kind.

You've said that so many times, I've lost track. Still, I don't recall ever seen a post in which someone says they don't like you because you're a Christian and vote Republican. There are many, many Christians of various kinds out there, and on WP. There are also lots of people who vote Republican, otherwise it wouldn't be a major party. Where are all those people on WP who don't like you because you're a Christian and vote Republican?? I'm not seeing them.

As far as real life goes, I was under the impression that Texas was 90% Christian Republicans. It's really hard to believe that so many people dislike you because of those things.

And to CockneyRebel---I'm glad you've decided to stick around and make special threads for your interests. That was a very good idea.

Don't leave! I posted in both of your "60's/The Kinks Appreciation" threads (before I saw this thread, too).

CockneyRebel!!
Hey....I started to worry about you there for a while but saw the thread develope to the more positive side for you.
You know thats the worst someone can do to an Aspy, to interfere in ones special interest that can be interpreted as offending. That can really feel like the "end of the world" I know...

I admit that I know nothing about the Kinks and the 60s but to me this IS YOU! A couple of weeks ago I came across a vinyl record with the Kinks here in our computer room! Its owned by my husband and I emediately thought of YOU! And this is the part with Aspies I really love. The absolute addiction phenomenon to everyones individual special interest. Its so charming!
Apparently not everyone is so fond of this as I am as someone got tired of your special interests... but try to not take it so hard even if its hard. This thread proves after all that you are appreciated and liked for You beeing You With The Kinks and everything. This is what you should remember and be proud of.

And as for me. I would love to do as you. To totally spam the forum with all of YouTube. But I dont do it because Im affraid someone would tell me to piss off.... So to me you are very brave with sharing your special interest so much with WP as you do. You are cool!

youd figure in a place like this where its encouraged to be open and meet people with common mental state that everyone wouldnt nit pic. or you can think of it in the wrong planet idea, were all aliens doesnt mean were all from the same planet.

its a big would out there and im confident that there are people that i can relate too, or worse case senerio people that i can put up with aside their flaws

Perhaps leaving Texas would reduce a lot of my anxiety.
