. . . If you were approached by the health and safety rep about it and told there have been complaints, I would say it's gotten to the point that you are making others uncomfortable and it is something you don't want to ignore.

Maybe. It's also entirely possible that the health and safety rep received a single, solitary complaint and did the corporate, formal thing of "informing" you about the "problem," not that you can do anything about it working 60 hrs a week, but because that way, the rep then is off the hook. And it really may be as shallow and superficial as this. Every time a manager puts so little thought and heart in it, it continues to amaze me. But, all the same, that is fairly common. I guess the way for me to look at it, is for me to give the manager some benefit of the doubt, but not to invest such a huge amount into what they say (which I have done at times).

Also, the health and safety rep did not need to ambush you in the store room.

She's in the bottom 20%, all kinds of ego issues, not very well-organized herself, and a blamer. And when you have a job like this, it's very hard to know, in your gut where it counts, that not every job is like this, not even every crummy entry-level job is like this.

And the ironic thing, she may like you! Even though she yells at you, she may like you, precisely because you are a steady eddie.

Maybe practicing some short simple statements as, 'Hey, I'm a good worker. I should be treated with respect,' particularly for the period after you give notice if you feel that might be a problem. And please trust what feels right to you.

Okay, like the poster said above, the important thing to do is to leave reasonably on your own terms, in a way that preserves your good frame of mind. What if you gave two weeks notice so that you had a week off between the end of this job and the start of the next one?

I have a good friend (who is spectrumy, but not AS)....He is a really great person, but there is just something about his body ph that happens to make him have a really terrible body odor even though he bathes and such.....He can't help it...He is not totally aware of it either, so it is hard to bring it up to him...he is rather in denial of it....I am not suggesting that this is your situation..I am just describing my personal experience

Anywhoo....I recently discovered that there is such a thing as internal deodorant...The active ingredient it chlorophyll from organic sources..there are different brands...some claim the chlorophyll is derived from alfalfa...others are non specific..
I have started taking these myself, because I don't like commercial deodorant..because of the aluminum..and it is summer and on some days I am aware that I smell bad...and frankly, I cannot stand the smell and feel of deodorant...

Anywhoo...I have tried to suggest to my friend to start taking them...because he really does have a perpetual strong odor that is hard to take sometimes....

Commercial deodorants just cover up odors on the surface...internal deodorants seem like a more wholistic approach..and possibly more effective.

I got mine at the health food store..it is called chlorofresh..There is another one that i ordered off the internet called Nullo. The reason I have 2 is that I got one for my friend...but he uh..didn't take the hint and just thought it was a novelty when I attempted to give it to him...He upsets easily so I don't want to take the risk of pressing the issue...

So I am sorry you have to work long hours for minimum wage at an awful sweaty job..I have been there/done that...I have also had hygiene troubles due to executive dysfunction etc....

I notice that after taking chlorofresh for a while, I just smell natural....not like b.o. or deodorant...just a natural human smell that humans are supposed to have...with a hint of patchouli..cause I am a patchouli addict...

I can't believe people are defending the prescence of BO in an eatery.

Its unpleasant anywhere, but you don't want to eat around a BO stench. You can't honestly expect not to be told if you stink of BO in a food place? Because its possibly killing their business.

I don't know anything about the way you've been treated, it may not be fair but i'm going to have to side with the boss on the BO one.

Wash your shirt or at least the armpits after every time you wear it, put on a roll on in the morning, take it to wrk and top up at lunch. Extra spray if needed. Done and dusted. NOT hard work.

It was just a one time I was a little stinky. I haven't been approached about it since, and this now is going on about two weeks ago now.
