There are many colleges and universities in the greater Boston (Massachusetts) area, along with hospitals and bio-medical-tech research institutions. There is an international airport, and public transportation options include buses, rail, and subway/ light rail. (Disclaimer: I have not lived in Boston in many years, so I would check with someone else about the current state of the public transportation network.)

Someone once told me that Washington D.C. has a good public transportation system, but I have never been there.

My understanding is that most people have their initial application denied, but you stand a very good chance of winning your appeal if you hire a lawyer to help you. There are lawyers who specialize in this, and they will often take part of your final SSI settlement as payment.

Although pursuing your interest(s) is great, please keep in mind that job prospects are particularly tough for people with degrees in the humanities and social sciences. Being on the autism spectrum tends to make things even worse. (Sorry, but that is the truth.)

Anyway, best of luck wherever you go and with whatever you end up doing. :)

You're so lucky to be an American, you could live in NYC! It has good transit and it's very cosmopolitan.

There doesn't seem to be much of a chance for me, I'm afraid. If I pursue a career that I would not like, I would be miserable. On the other hand, if I try to nurture my interests, I will end up jobless and thus, penniless. It is a lose-lose situation. I do not have very much worth.

Yes, I would be lucky if the economy wasn't so bad and if I didn't have any disabilities. :(

I do have a lawyer that specializes in SSI cases. I'm sorry I didn't mention that before. :(

As I have said before, there doesn't seem to be much hope for me.

The truth hurts. :(

If you're in Central Illinois, what's wrong with Chicago? There's two large airports, museums, plenty of public transportation around the city, and a great choice of universities and colleges.

[quote="confusedwoman87"] Can anyone tell me which city in the US would be the best place for us to live? We need a city that has good public transportation and that is close to an international airport and a university that has science and medical majors. If someone can give me suggestions, I would be greatful.

Although personally I've never been there, I hear Seattle has an excellent transportation system and great universities without being as insanely expensive as california (nor as financially effed up as california lol).

What about the volcanos? We really don't want to be near one of those...

What about New York City or somewhere on the East Coast?

You are twenty? A good place is Seattle. It has everything you want.

I don't recall any volcanic damage to Seattle.

Yes, I'm 20, and my fiancee is 27.

I'm sensing a pattern here. Seattle, Seattle, Seattle... :)

Neither one of us has any religious affiliation, but I'm afraid that since my fiancee is from Bangladesh (a small country next to India), that they will mistake him for a Muslim. I know there are hate crimes everywhere, but are there cities that are more tolerant than others?

By a show of hands, who is having a hard time finding a job? (me: raising my hand)

I got a job. But I recommend you go work for the government. In troubling economic times, it is probably one of the best jobs one can hope for.

I wish I was interested in being a doctor. They are needed everywhere, and they make pretty good pay.

I guess people are assuming that since I made good grades in school that I will make "good grades" in life. :(

I'm new to this site. Do people post different threads according to their mood? I mean, can I just have one that I talk about myself on instead of having a lot of threads to deal with at the same time?

I really really hope that this is a safe place for me to talk, but I feel like maybe I'm talking about myself too much and annoying people. Also, I've now talked about different topics on the same thread. What should I be doing on here? :?: :?: :?:
