nin they do keep track of everything, it's just stuck in a huge server. But I warned you don't blame me if they open a case file on you 8 years later. As what they do is ask you to pay it back. ( big if on, if they open a case file ).

Edit:-

Thats what my incapacity benefit ( Employment and Support Allowance ) is for. I also get DLA. difference is 1 needs a medical & DLA does not until 2013.

they knocked my ear defenders of my head and im suverley autistic, now, imagine sensory issues and then imagine them as SUVERE sensory issues, then imagine how you would deal with the only think that keeps your ears away from all the noises knocked off your head.

This is the world. Does a wild animal care if you're autistic? No, it will attack you anyway. The police shoulda helped you, if you had pulled out a screw driver and seriously injured any of these scumbags, you can be sure the police would come and arrest you. Thats the police for you. They aren't there to protect us, they're there to herd us like cattle. I didn't know you had severe autism though. Getting messed with on the street is confusing enough for me, I can't imagine how confusing it must be for someone with severe autism. f**k the police.

Where I am in the US there isn't either. There is no way for them to even know what you spend it on. You get cash and it's not like they ask for receipts to account for what you spend.

I'm not saying people are doing it here but I hate how some people act like it's horrible if anyone on any kind of benefits (like welfare or disability) splurges on something or "wastes" their money in any way, as though if you are poor you are supposed to sit at home miserable owning and doing nothing. One example of that is when I read in Ann Landers where people complain about people with food stamps buying stuff that is "too good" for them.

F**king lay off guys. This isn't a thread or the time for attacking the OP about what he/she does with his/her benefits, or trying to make him/her paranoid with blatantly unnecessary misinformation and conjecture.

My heart goes out to you NintyFan, that sounds like a truly awful day. Don't let it colour your experience, the odds of that happening again are slim at best. Some people are b**tards, only some of them. One tip would be to investigate the options regarding ear-gear - maybe try and be a little less conspicuous.

And that isquite possibly the most idiotic, conspiracy filled post I've seen in a while.

nintendofan lives with her mother. So her family are responsible for her care and I imagine pay for things connected to that care. The DLA is basically going into that household budget. Are you suggesting that people have to prove what they spend things on in order to qualify, or that her family have to account for every penny that's spent? Utter nonsense.

Nintendofan, I'm really sorry that those dregs of society attacked you. Maybe a set of noise cancelling headphones might be better for when you are out and about. Ear defenders may well attract the notice of undesirable types at times, whereas nobody gives a second look to someone wearing headphones- just a thought.

I truly hope you get over this nasty experience quickly, and regain your confidence :)

That would upset me a lot if someone put their hands on me or my property when I go out. I think I get bothered less now since I'm older and as far as a lot of young people are concerned old people may as well be invisible.

I wouldn't go for extremely expensive ones, because yep, some mean jerk could knock them off you, or you could break them by accident, but there are cheaper options out there:-

Sony MDR-NC40 High Quality Noise Cancelling Headphones

I'm not saying buy those particular ones, I found those as an example. There are lots out there that don't cost the earth but work pretty well- plus you won't draw attention to yourself, loads of folk wear earphones when walking around.

The best ones are by a company called Bose. A friend of mine has them, and they're amazing. Switch them on, and you hear nothing, uncanny. However, those are VERY expensive.

i bought some of those nosie reduction ones... but they were horrible. they didnt reduce any noise, and the audio output was terrible. i had to return them, they were bose ones, i dont realy trust bose now, but i guess they could have been faulty.

AMEN to that! I am on Social Security Disability, and I absolutely LOATHE people who think they have any right whatsoever to judge and dictate what we are, or are not, to spend our money for, after bills, rent, medications, utilities and groceries, etc. are paid. That is only for the government and benefit recipients to decide, and it is nobody else's business in any way, shape or form.

Why do people think that spending DLA on a laptop or *anything else* would be punished? It's your money, you get to choose. That's the deal.

OP if you hit someone, expect to be hit back. Even if they're dicks. Especially if they're dicks.

Second, these things just happen. No reason for it, it just happens, whether you have a disability or not. Wearing ear defenders, whatever they are, makes you an easy target. It's unusual and that makes it funny. If they are what I think they are... (never heard the term before so who knows).

I'm curious, why do you immediately shout IM AUTISTIC? You don't have to... and it obviously doesn't help.

EDIT: Also, why did you wait for help? Help yourself. I don't understand why you sat and waited.

I can't even imagine what that must be like. I've never experienced anything remotely like it before, so I can't really relate.

You seem like you can communicate alright online. How is it that you aren't very verbal? Just interested.

As for those headphones you mentioned earlier... the sound is good but they can be uncomfortable to wear on your head, I think. You should try them on before you make a decision. What about those inner-ear earphones? Much easier, much less visible and the sound is very good (in my experience). Should try those out too.

It sucks that you can't really verbalise what you want to say. Unfortunately I don't think repeating your condition to others is going to be of much use to you. Most people, I expect, wouldn't know how to deal with you in the right way. I certainly wouldn't.

thats just it, you cant undestand, which means you wont be able to understand my behaviour and why i do things the way i do.
ive had to say this so many times, ive been learning to type for many years, since i was about 3 years old , and im 18 now so thats about 15 years of learning to type to talk.
there are various pepole with LFA and classic autism that can only comunciate by typing.

and belive it or not there are some pepole who do understand, and its better to say somthing than nothing and pepole be very confused as to why i would act in ways with no explanation. when the police came, i said i was autistic, which made things alot easier, when the ambulance came, i said i was autistic, which again made things alot easier for them, also there is less chance for you to be treated so badly if someone understands that your speacial needs. but you got to understtand that these pepole were drunk, and me mentiontioning about being specail needs may have made alot of diffrence if these pepole wernt drunk.
