This bad experience we had to make here is the opposite of what people need...and it is sadening - not only because of the denouncing of my husband but also because of the anticipatory obedience the informer acted on in my opinion. This is the very mentality people in the former communistic systems acted on and I would not have expected this to be a trait of members of an american based website designed to be helpful and a resource to autistic people. I guess this is another illusion I have to part with. Even after the end of the communistic systems this despiteful human trait seems to survive and yep it seems to thrive in the last years - especially in countries which used to be a beacon of freedom and humanity. There is definitely a change in society to the hateful, envious and fearful and to the egoistic world view which is combination where no good can come from. If I read the news of this world, there is so much of this in every story, there is so much of petty squable, of envy, of hate, of superstition of "I am better than you" of outright infringement on the basic rights of others it is nearly overwhelming. And to hold up the little flag of humanity, of helping, of support of trying to understand those who are different, of widening ones own horizon by learning about the difference between people which is an enrichment of the own life, or of just thinking about the consequences ones acts might have before acting out is getting more and more difficult. And experiences like the one we had to make in this place here are definitely not helping. But were will we as a people be, it there is only the dark side of society and fear and hate...where will that lead us to? I guess the answer is self evident.
This - 1000x this!
You wrote my thinking in much nicer and more eloquent terms.
