In your opinion.

I'm 100% for gun rights for everyone. although in my case I think it's best to opt out because of my mental health issues.
As far as the creationism thing You're on your own with that one. I used to believe in it myself but I've come a long way since then. I really don't care what other people believe on the subject as long as they don't teach it in schools as scientific fact.

your blind if you think its a one sided war. that you're side doesn't attack people. you have a right to think that about the bible but why not leave others to follow it in peace. I have no doubt super Christians attack atheist, they attack other Christians. that doesn't' give you and you side the right to attack others. two wrongs don't' make a right. really wish certain atheists and super Christians would just be stuck ina room with knifes and kill each other. so tired of the extremists fighting a way and the rest of us getting caught in the cross fire.

For your information, I am a Presbyterian elder. Since when does this deny me the right to point out where people's beliefs - especially Christian beliefs - are in error? I have attended Seminary. I have studied the Bible - not just the "happy-fun" parts, but the parts where the heroes of the Bible engage in incest, prostitution, murder, genocide, slavery, and the subjugation of women.
I have said this many times, and I will say it again: I am not an atheist; I just hate religion ... mainly because of those who claim to be Christians, yet who wrongfully label others as atheists and apostates, and then attack them for it.
said you're side because you side with them and think only Christians do attacks and atheist sit and take it and never attack first or back. which is just all so wrong. I am not a representative of all Christians I just believe in god. maybe you and the atheist should go talk to those people who do the attacks instead of lecturing others who had nothing to do with it besides also believing in god.

Not really. It seems this thread has been completely derailed.
I have no doubt that you're a decent guy, sly279. I could say the same thing about most of the people in this thread, actually. Some topics bring out the worst in otherwise decent folk. That is why people do not discuss sex, politics or religion at most places of employment.
How would you define yourself outside of your opinions on religion, evolution and guns?

I wonder if agreeing publicly with them that they are, indeed, the smartest people in the forum and correct on all counts, they might just enjoy themselves quietly for one day.
...Naaah!

hard to define anyone outside of their beliefs, hobbies and personality. as that is what makes a person who they are.
think this is why dating sites and compatiblity with others is based on those things. mean what else is there besides those other then looks?

for someone who isn't afraid to call people bigots, you're remarkably thinskinned

you won't stop pushing me and pushing me. you fit the definition. and I was pushed too far.
do you not think atheism and evolution is superior to religious beliefs and that anyone who believes in god is wrong?
because that is the definition of bigot. thinking your idea is the better one and all others are wrong and being intolerant of theirs. you have to disprove anyone who states they are religious. that sounds like intolerance to me. a tolerant person would not need to disprove others beliefs and would simple let them be and acknowledge that and see that it is oke to have different beliefs.

Personality means a lot more to me than hobbies and beliefs. It can take a person a lot further than those other two factors combined.

why can't the live and let live. why can't we just have different beliefs and not have to disprove the others.

I activity bond. so you can't go and do a personality. personality is important fro being compatible but if you have nothing else in common then it won't work be it friendship or relationship. hobbies are something you can do together and bond over. beliefs you can share together and again bond through.
mean would you be friends with someone with a similar personalty but no similar interest and completely different beliefs as you?

The only thing I have in common with most of my friends is that we are all recovering alcoholics. We have very little in common outside of that, yet we take delight in our differences and enjoy each other's companionship nonetheless.
It might be atypical, but it works for me.
